I am coming in for a DVC stay at Disney and have never been to US/IOA. I will be on a solo trip this time. I was thinking of coming in a couple of days early and checking out US/IOA. In looking at hotel options for those two days, the on-site hotels seem really expensive compared to the off-site choices--but because my touring time will be really limited, I'm thinking the FOTL option would be beneficial. But, unless I am reading it wrong--a person can buy the FOTL option as part of their ticket package for between $20 and $60? I think the extra $60 would be a lot less than the cost difference for staying on-site but am wondering if I'm missing something?

You can purchase the Express Passes if your not staying on-site.But there only good for one time per ride. Now if you stay on-site you get the FOTL perk and ride any ride over and over!!

Now to me staying on-site is the only way too go..The resorts are beautiful and everything is at your finger tips..Just park or take a shuttle to the resort of your choice and leave the world behind for a couple days!!All the parks are within walking distance or take the water taxi..Its all inclusive and you wont be dissapointed!!

Check for Super Saver rates for the resorts, this will save you money, also AAA rates..

Hope this helps!!:thumbsup2

i do all my orlando trips, disney and universal, solo.

i only stay on site at both places.

i prefer having the security at the hotels.
that is my number 1 priority when i travel solo and stay for a couple of weeks.

by staying on site, you don't have to deal with transportation for the parks at either place. no car rental or looking over your shoulder when you walk from a parking lot to the hotel if you are off site.

some of the security at hotels are a joke and not a safe place for a female solo traveler.

stay on site for peace of mind.
it is worth the money.

Good advice--thanks!
