I will be going solo from December 6th-12th and staying at Cabana Bay. I'm wondering if I'll need an express pass even if I plan on utilizing the single rider lines. I thought about doing a split stay and spend the first 2 nights at Royal Pacific not only for the express pass but also to experience the hotel. Is it worth it?

Also...if I plan on visiting the parks for 6 days then I'd get the Power Annual Pass, right? Could I get this at the hotel when I check-in or do I go to the parks entrance for it?

I'm very new to USO so probably will hear a lot from me until I leave! Thank you!

That time is really slow too. I think you'll be fine without it.

You can purchase the AP at the parks. I'm not sure if Guest Services at the hotels sell them.

If you do decide that you would like to stay at a Deluxe resort to have the express pass option, then you may want to look into the Preferred Pass. If you plan on staying 2+ nights then then you will save more $ with the APH rate than the actual upgrade will cost. Also you will not be subject to any blackouts and you will get great discounts on food. Since you are going solo, if you don't mind moving around a lot you can stay at a deluxe resort every other night with Cabana bay filling in between. This will save you even more and you will always keep the early entry and since each day would essentially be a Check in or Check out day at a Deluxe resort then you would also have the Express Pass option. I know this would take some work and wouldn't advise it for a larger group but as a solo its very doable.

The move to a Preferred Pass might not be so cut and dry. You do lose the blackout dates. But, power passes now also get the APH discount on rooms, and if you have a AAA card you get nearly the same discount of food and merchandise.

If you were staying offsite, the preferred pass would save on parking.

Thank you for this info. So with a power pass I'm eligible for a hotel discount?
I do have a AAA card so that will be nice. Blackout dates are not a big deal for me as I would only travel during the off-season.

Yes, all annual passes give you the hotel discount.
