I'm going to be traveling solo at OKW late next month and I won't have a car. So I'm hoping someone here could help me.

1) I'd like to make some breakfast ressies, but not sure how the bus system works in order to allow for travel time. Do busses stop at the Hospitality House first, or do they stop there at the end of the loop before heading out?

2) I assume that there is bell service to get you to and from your room at check-in and check-out if you don't have a car.

3) If going to another resort, is it best to take a bus/boat to downtown disney to catch a bus, or is there a better way?

Any other tips on traveling to/from OKW w/o a car would be greatly appreciated! I'm more concerned about getting somewhere earlier in the day than getting back at night.

Thank you!

Pat

The buses at OKW are pretty good, but be sure to allow yourself plenty of time - especially for getting to another resort. At least 45 minutes to an hour. Yes, you can go to DTD and change to a another resort bus. Getting to the parks is faster, and the park buses from OKW are direct. The buses are dependable, but not always quick.

Be aware, though, that buses from DTD don't go to the parks. Too many people were parking free at DTD and hopping on a park bus, so this was discontinued.

Hospitality house is the last stop before leaving the resort.
Sometimes, but not frequently, it stops at HH both first and last.

Yes, they will gladly take you and your luggage from HH to your room.

Have gone solo several times and it is a really nice experience and gives you lots of freedom!!!!

What I would recommend when going to another resort is to go to one of the parks (MK and Epcot is where I would go) and then take a bus from there to one of the resorts. Actually you could just go to HH and take which ever bus comes first and then decide if you want to start there. I have found this the easiest way either solo or with our family.

Many people on this forum complain about the OKW bus service, but we have never had any problems with it......after all, we are on vacation, so if we have to wait we just people watch.....No biggie

Hope you have a wonderful time!!!!!

The toughest resort to get to from OKW w/o a car is the AKL. You can take the bus from OKW to AK, then take the bus over to the resort. I'm not sure if there is a walking path from AK to AKL...

It also depends on how early you make a breakfast ressie, because the bus system doesn't always allow you to get to a resort for the first seating, from my experience.

Thanks everyone for the helpful information! This will help me plan my days. I, too, don't mind taking my time, people watching and going with the flow - but didn't want add more time on to any commute.

Thanks again for the great info!

It's not a terrible walk to DTD or the spa at SSR from OKW, especially if you are staying at the back of the resort. We did this in November and loved the stroll along the golf course. Not recommended at night because not all of the path is lit, however. One of my friends took a cab for a very early spa time and it was pretty inexpensive to get to SSR via cab so that's another option for anyplace you want to go, if you do not want to deal with the bus service. We have stayed at OKW w/o a car and find the bus service to be perfectly fine.
