SOLO NO MORE September PTR - Me, Agent P and a guy named Nick UPDATED 9/3

Does the Heffalumps And Woozles song make anyone else nervous?

I’ve been slacking in the PTR department, so I’m going to try and shoot out a really fast one here. I’ve had good reasons, really. Last week the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup and I was busy being all YAY. And the week before, my dog had, let’s just say “gastrointestinal discomfort”. I was up all night with him and had to call into work because he had to go out hourly. That episode made me realize I’d make a really lousy nurse or parent. Anyway, because parents always take pictures of their sick kids, I took a picture of my sick dog:

Awwwww.

On with the show. I’m 65 days out. I think advanced check-in is at 45 days? Airfare for NYE is still awful. I’m going to end up paying over $400, which hurts. I can fly back to Costa Rica for that. Oh well, it’s Disney World. I’ll be happy. My ADR window opens on Wednesday. Yay!

Day Five
Sunday, September 8

When I last left you, I was going all Agent P crazy. Today is much more relaxed, and likely much longer. Today is Hollywood Studios day and Magic Kingdom EMH. Let me just say right now, I have four Agent P/Perry T-shirts. One of them will come out this day for the Phineas & Ferb meet. As you saw in my earlier post, my only really successful meet and greet last trip was with Phineas & Ferb. My friends humored me and we stood in a line with a bunch of children and I had my moment with them. The only problem was that Phineas kept trying to talk through gestures and I’ll be darned if I knew what he was saying.

My plan for today is to get to Hollywood Studios super early. I tend to get to everything super early. I can entertain myself in a line. I’ll join the massive throng of people that will head to Toy Story Mania and I’ll grab a FastPass, and then hop into the line for Woody and Buzz if it’s not already ridiculous. I like TSM as much as the next person, but dang does my arm hurt afterwards. I really only need to ride it once. After Buzz and Woody, I’m off to Phineas & Ferb. And that about describes my plan for the whole day!

No, really. Past that, I have no plan. As far as rides go, I only do Tower of Terror. I physically cannot ride Rock N Roller Coaster, so that eliminates the need to wait for that. I’m deaf in my left ear and I had surgery two years ago to have a hearing aid implanted (BAHA if you want to Google). It’s basically a titanium screw fused into my skull with a post screwed to it, and a little box clips to the screw. Long story short, the hearing aid does nothing for me. My brain is so wired to process sound from the right that it won’t even register that there’s sound on the left. So I don’t wear the hearing aid. But I’m still stuck with this thing sticking out of my head. It’s just above and behind my ear. So rides that really bang you around with over the shoulder harnesses are no good for me. I can’t risk the chance that I bump my head. The area is numb so if I hit it, I won’t reallllly know. Luckily the only ride at Disney that I can’t do because of that is the Rock N Roller Coaster. All the other coasters are okay. Oh, story not related to Disney, but related to my head. I was in Mammoth Cave and I banged my head really hard. I couldn’t feel it, but I knew I smacked it really good. I spent the rest of the tour feeling my head to make sure I wasn’t bleeding. That’s a good reason not to ride a ride.

As for shows, I love the Muppets and Beauty and the Beast. I really enjoy Lights, Motor, Action! even if other people don’t. I just hate how long it takes to enter and exit that place. How about some moving sidewalks like it’s Vegas? If it’s super hot or I’m tired, I would skip it. As much as I love the Indiana Jones movies, I’m skipping the stunt show. I saw it last year and it really hasn’t changed much since I was a kid. I would love them to take it out and put the Indiana Jones ride that they have at Disneyland. That’s a good ride. I guess Dinosaur is similar, but I’d rather have an Indiana Jones version.

I have a 3:15 Sci-Fi Dine-In ADR. I’m not sure why I made it. I suppose just to have something that isn’t counter service.

Characterpalooza! I have to wait until closer to the trip to know if it’s going to happen or where. I’m really hoping it’s not on the Streets of America and it’s back in the Animation Building. I’ve never done it before and I feel like it’d be more structured indoors. For a solo person, I think it’d be easier to find someone to take my picture inside than milling around a street.

Magic Kingdom has EMH and I’m really going to try to get there. If that means I need to go back to my hotel for a nap or go relax in the Yacht or Beach Club lobbies, I’ll do it. I think I may use EMH as tripod time. Night shots in the Magic Kingdom are so good, but so hard to get. Yep, it’s official. Tripod Night.

The next day will have a character meal and just one park.

Currently Reading: I finished Inferno by Dan Brown. Wha? Now I’m onto A Delicate Truth by John Le Carre.

Aw poor sick doggy!

Our plans for our park days are the same. I have some idea of where we'll head first thing in the morning and we know what things we definitely want to do but otherwise, we don't have a structured plan.

I agree-- I hope characterpalooza moves back into the animation building. I was so excited to see it for the first time and it seems like a whole big mess now.

I think Sci-Fi would be a great TS for a solo trip!

Sorry to hear about your sick dog, but he does look cute!

Very short one today.

I have been attempting to convince a friend of mine to go with me but it is really not working. Apparently my offer to make MNSSHP costumes for him is not a selling point. :confused3 Nor is stating he can make fun of me when I cry. I’m guessing telling him the Stepsisters will love him isn’t going to work either. Doesn’t he realize it’s Disney? Ugh. There’s magic out there! I'm not sure what will actually convince him, if anything.

I worked on the 4th of July, which was unfortunate. But I use the term “work” very loosely. I was at my place of employment, however, being as it was a holiday it was dead. That meant it was Cricut time. I did a little more for my resort door (Alice In Wonderland themed) and cut out all the pieces for my window. I figure if I’m going to Disney, I might as well go all out and have the best decorated room there. Towel animals, please. Here are the fruits of my Independence Day labor:

Once I’m done with my daily plans, I’ll nerd out and post all the pics of the stuff I’ve done so far.

I checked in on Saturday. Apparently you can do early check-in 60 days out, not 45. I feel like two months is excessive, but I guess it will eventually have to do with FP+ and Magic Bands?

Day Six
Monday, September 9

This day starts off with an 8:05 ADR at Crystal Palace. I’m not a big fan of the Pooh gang, but I am a fan of walking into a practically empty park and awesome castle pictures. We had an early CRT time last year and we accomplished a ton by beating the crowd inside. I figured Crystal Palace would be less awkward solo than CRT. Cheaper, too. After I eat, I’ll head into Fantasyland to get everything done there. I’m not allowed to go to Be Our Guest. I promised I’d wait for my friend to go. BATB is her favorite movie and I can’t eat there without her.

The good thing about Magic Kingdom is that I can ride every ride. I can do all the Mountains and all the other rides are easy. Except the Mad Tea Party. I’m skipping that. And as much as I laugh in Monsters, Inc. I’m always terrified they’ll single me out for something. So far I’ve been lucky. I try to sit in the back corner and slouch down. I’m such a wuss. My very favorite MK ride is the Haunted Mansion. I love the stretching room and all the music. I could ride it over and over and sing along. Though I do find it very sad that poor Mr. Toad is in the pet cemetery.

I may take a mid-day break and tour the monorail resorts or head back to my own resort.

Hollywood Studios has EMH this night, so I just might head over there and ride Tower of Terror over and over. I love the prop room at the end. I always try to figure out which episodes I can recognize.

Next report is *squee!* MNSSHP.

Cute decorations! Are those just layers of paper glued together? That's a lot of work, good thing you had so much free time at work, haha.

Haunted Mansion is my favourite too! And I liked Laugh Floor the one time I did it. We're going to Captain Cooks for lunch on our MK day. I want to check out the Poly since I'll probably never stay there!

Just following along. Love the way you seem to just do things on the spot. I am to much of a planner for that.....lol

Yeah. The Cricut cuts out the layers and I have to glue them together. My job involves being on the phone a lot, so I just sit and glue while doing the phone thing.

I really want to dress up as a Haunted Mansion ghost for MNSSHP one year but I don't know how I'd make a breathable costume and prevent all the makeup from sweating off.

Does Captain Cooks have that pineapple drink? I've always wanted to try it, just because it's a pineapple

:welcome:
I'm a total planner. When I went solo the first time two years ago, I followed the Touring Plans plans to the letter. I even laminated little cards telling me where to go. Now I realized September is a good time of the year and I don't really need plans. I'm still going to the TP/Josh recommended parks, but whatever I feel like doing, I will.

I'm never on the phone at work, but I like it that way!

Ooh, I totally want to be a ghost too, like the ones from the parade, SO cool. But yeah, face makeup is a bit of a pain.

I think you need to go to the Tambu Lounge at the Poly to get the Lapu Lapu, that's what you're talking about, right?

Wow those are some awesome creations there! I love it and they're even better because you got to do it at work!

Yeah I find it so odd that they changed online check-in from 10 days to 60 days. I'm excited to do it because it makes the trip seem more "real" in a way but there's really very little to do in the process so it's strange. :confused3

I also skip the tea cups. They make me horribly nauseous, no thanks!

I have convinced a friend of mine to go to Disney in 2015 and she will be a Haunted Mansion ballroom dancer with me. :cool1: Yes, that's really far away, but I just may need that long to make those costumes...

The Lapu Lapu is on my To Do One Day list.

Thanks! Wait til you see all the other stuff I made.

It definitely felt weird to be sitting in my living room telling them what building I wanted to be in. But now I feel less magical because there's nothing else to do.

I don't know why I don't like the teacups. I think there was always a super long line when I was little and then once I was an adult, you're no longer supposed to do stuff like the teacups.

Um Haunted Mansion ballroom dancer costumes might be the best thing ever. I'm pretty sad about waiting til 2015 to see you do it!:rotfl2:

I so wish I was creative. My cousin and I were walking around the craft store the other day looking at all the cool stuff we could do if only we knew how :confused3 My mother and grandmother are both great at that stuff so I'm not sure how it got lost on me.

I really want to like the teacups but if I go on them, the rest of the day I can't do anything without feeling like I'm gonna be sick so I steer clear.

I apparently fell off the face of the earth. But I'm back! I'm on my work computer, and don't have access to Photobucket, so I am without pictures right now. Let me paint you a picture with words! Or something...

After a month of nagging, my solo trip is no longer solo! I convinced my friend to go with me. Basically what happened is that it was his birthday yesterday, so I bought his airfare, and then he didn't really have a choice. So let's just call it a kidnapping. He's never been to WDW, so he'll do whatever I say.

Problem is... <dramatic pause> I have three weeks to make Dreamfinder and Flynn Rider costumes. Less, actually, because I have to ship it all down. Oh, did I ruin my dramatic surprise there? Yeah. My costumes are Figment and Rapunzel. I figure he should match. (I'll post pics of those as soon as I can. I made the Figment costume last year and had someone else make Rapunzel this year.)

The good news? Joann's had "leather" 60% off this weekend, so I ordered it online for the Flynn vest. The bad news? Shipping would be 14-21 business days. The good news? It actually shipped yesterday and will arrive tomorrow! Someone is sprinkling pixie dust. Now I just have to hope it's the right shade.

Oh, should I tell you about my friend? His name is Nick. I've known him for fifteen or so years. I probably won't kill him. Probably. :thumbsup2 He hasn't seen Tangled, so I'll have to get him on that. Right now I think he thinks I want him to be a prince like Prince Charming. No, you get to be the manliest of all princes! The one that makes the woman swoon! The outlaw! The thief!

I'm going to head home, do the Kermit dance, and then get started on these costumes! :scared:

I cancelled my New Year's Eve trip and rescheduled for early December. The airfare was stuck around $500 and I just couldn't rationalize that for a time of year where it was going to be wall to wall people. :crowded:

Oh wow! That's awesome! :woohoo: You are such a great friend. I'm sure Nick will have a blast. How could he not?? It's DISNEY!!! :mickeyjum

Can't wait to see pics!

So I was just browsing through a MNSSHP thread and saw that you would be at the party on the 13th! I had completely forgotten as I think we were talking about that on my "Derp Derp" tr that has since ended!

You're still at that one, right?

I'll be there too! What're your plans for earlier in the day? We should totally meet up!

Yay! How great that you're kidnapping someone to Disney! :rotfl2:

I think the best part about bringing him is that I can hook him up with the stepsisters. I just can't decide which one. :confused3:rotfl2:

I am definitely at that party. I think the plan right now is Magic Kingdom rope drop to do a few things and then back to the resort for an afternoon rest before the party. We're going to have to put on our costumes at the MK because I'll die of heat exhaustion if I have to stand waiting for a bus.

I know! I really gave him no option at that point. I bought the airfare, said you have 24 hours to decide so I can get a refund. Twenty-four hours passed, so he had no choice. I'm evil. But in a good, Disney way.

I'm going to sew my butt off this weekend and post pictures of everything on Monday. My costumes and whatever I have done of his costumes so far.
