Hi
I'm visiting a friend in the Orlando area who works for Disney, and don't want to burden her with with anything as she will be working for a majority of the time I'll be there.. I'm looking for a decent hotel. Everything Ive read about has resort fees and other charges which makes the price I'm actually looking at higher. Any recommendations? I am going to rent a car as well. I've done this trip in the past when I was younger and didn't have a mortgage payment to consider. Thank you.

I travel to Disney solo these days and it depends on when you are going. I was able to snag one night at Pop Century for under $100 including taxes in December. Then I'm moving to French Quarter for the rest of my trip. I would call Disney first and see what their cheapest option is for your stay. I also ran into the problem of extra fees making it way more. I stayed at a place near Downtown Disney this summer for one night (not an official DTD hotel)....or well Disney Springs now. Ha. It was a decent price but didn't love the location.

For my December solo trip I will be staying at Coronado Springs. I originally planned to stay at Pop Century but I was able to get an amazing deal at CSR so I booked there. I don't like straying off property and probably wouldn't as a solo. I just feel safer in the Disney bubble :)

I think the value resorts are great for a solo trip. Going back to AS Sports in January.

I got a great rental from Southwest when I booked my plane ticket. Sometimes you only see that link right after you make your plane reservations. I also got a really good rental deal with I made my Marriott hotel reservation, again, you only see that link after you make a reservation. You can always cancel the hotel and keep the car rental!

I use: rentalcarmomma.com for car rentals, as well as expedia.com, orbitz.com, for hotel options I check out: hotels.com, booking.com, trivago.com, costco is a good option if you are a costco member, plus a few others.

Remember, check the cancellation policies. It is better to reserve and cancel than not reserve at all! It is very expensive to rent in Orlando because of the airport fees which you can't get away from!
