Solo During Food and Wine Festival

If you decide to do PFTS, let me know. I've wanted to do it for the past few years but this is one event I didn't really want to do by myself. Seems like it would be much more fun to share with fellow Disney fanatics.

I've done it once solo, and once with my mom. It was better with my mom. It's enjoyable solo, but there are little things, like not having a table and having to drag by bag around with me all night, that would keep me from doing it solo again, even though I think the event itself is excellant.

Thanks for the quick response. I've wanted to do this for the last few years. I almost signed up last fall but since I took a month off work last summer to do a trip to the west coast I decided to be sensible and scrapped my WDW plans. I've been having withdrawals ever since. I agree it will probably be more fun as a shared experience. I'll stay in touch.

Glad I found this thread. I just found out this morning some ladies I met on an earlier solo trip are planning another for Oct 3rd - Oct 9th. I've been wanting to go this fall so I'm planning to go Oct 2nd - Oct 9th. If you're interested in sharing some meals and touring this is a great way to do it. You aren't committed to spending all your time with others but it does give you someone to share meals and excitement with occasionally.

Here's the link - Another 2008 fall trip

I've never been to Jiko but it's on my 'must do' list for this trip. I'd love to join you if you would like company. The tea at GF is also a must do every trip.

I'm thinking about doing the Party. Not sure if anyone else will be interested but when I responded to the Dismeet thread quoted above I put it out there. If I decide to include it in my planning I'll let you know. Sounds like fun.

Anyone else traveling during this time period?

.

I am kinda in solo limbo my mom is trying to decide if she is coming... I had an inkiling someone would want to come once I booked tickets etc... I will know for sure in Apr. or May what is really going on so I will keep in touch. But if we are solo I would be really open meeting up.

I'm going solo to F&WF this year during the last week (no exact dates yet). In fact, since we bought into DVC this trip, I'll likely be going every year now. A meetup with other DISers would be awesome.

Elizabeth - can't figure out the quoting thingamabob but I LOVE vacation rule # 3 comparing touring plans to boyfriends. :rotfl: Dare I ask I what vacation rules 1 and 2 are??

and try so many things FREE-

Our two wine tasting events were magical and got us hooked on some new wines

I would go solo in a heartbeat-

Especially since lines are so long you can chat and get feedback from other guests.

PLUS the peace and quiet of being ALONE when you want to! AHHH!

So glad I found this thread;)

This will be my 2nd solo, last one in Dec...only 2 nights...but fun...spent most of my time shopping at DTD..lol

Just booked for F & W....Sept 26-29....was at POP but got a great AAA rate at POFQ and always wanted to stay there, but love POP too..

So, I am so a newbie...my first F & W....I really love wine...love to do tastings....this is my b day gift...friends here dnt understand why I would want to spend my 4*nd b day at Disney :confused3 :rotfl2:

So...I definately want to eat at Jiko..we spent one night at AKV last month, and it looked amazing:thumbsup2

Why I enjoyed abt my last solo trip was...you are on your own, free to have any schedule...but fun to meet up with others for meals etc....and be spontaneous...which is tough to do with a DH, DS14, DD11 and a DD 21 mths:scared1:

I'm glad you found us! I love POFQ - it's soo pretty and quiet compared to Pop. But, then I love Pop too...and it's cheap.

I got to spend my 4*th b-day at WDW last February. It was the best birthday of my whole life!!! So, I can totally relate.

You say you are leaving on the 29th, right? Morning or afternoon? Any interest in joining me for the Segway Around the World tour at Epcot that morning? Just a thought.

I chose POFQ cause so many say its a smaller resort...clsoe to EPCOT...and as you mentioned..pretty and quiet....

Did you wear your birthday button last year?? Can you tell I have issues with my age...lol...like no one would figure out 4*nd b day? I feel 35 but wiser than that for sure....

Anyway..the only plans I know for sure...is I want to do the MNSSHP on the 28th if that date holds true..tentative now...I am at VWl for one night...the last one...and I dont have my flight yet...but I like to fly in early and leave by 5 or so on departure days....usually...DH should have everything under control~
So..thanks for the invite....will do some research...have heard rave reviews abt the Segway :) If you have info, it will save me a trip to allears.net....lol

Anyone going to the MNSSHP? I heard Sundays may not be as crowded with the locals....

I absolutely wore my birthday button all weekend. Pal Mickey accompanied me wearing a party hat and carrying a gift. LOL! We got a lot of attention...I even got picked to ride on Mickey's car in the Jammin' Jungle Parade on my actual birthday. It was AWESOME! I got tons of free deserts, extra fast passes, and a bunch of ballons with a card signed by the Fab5 delivered to my room.

I did the free demo of the Segway at Innoventions last September. I was nervous that I would be the only one in my group not able to handle the ride. So I wanted to try it out before I paid to do a tour. I ended up loving it - actually had an easier time getting the hang of it than most of the guys in my group. So, I'm going to do the 9:00 tour on the 29th. That's an Epcot a.m.EMH. I figure the 9:00 tour will get done about 11:00 - just in time for the culinary demos to start at the Odessey.

My roomies and I are doing MNSSHP on the 26th. It will be my 7th year in a row for the party - can you tell I love it?!?! Being in September, the local crowds won't be as high as they get in October. Plus, a lot of Guest fly in on Friday night or Saturday morning. So, I like Friday over Sunday. JMO of course.

On the 27th I'm running in the Expedition Everest Challenge and the 28th will be doing several events for the "World Wide Weekend". That event is being put on by the same folks who organized Celebration 25 - www.wdwcelebrations.com.

Sounds like you had an exellent b day..So far I have taken my mom, both DD's for their b days, DS for his 8th grade graduation in June....

my b day is 10/13 but this is the only weekend I can get away...lol...well, maybe I wont wear the button, I will be happy ust being there!!

Sounds like your trip is planned...wow...thanks for the tips abt MNSSHP...I just want to go! I plan these long weekend trips and cram so much in! lol..I will relax in June then! Wait...my family is going...in laws..etc...never mind lol

Segway tour looks awesome...an you tell me more abt the special events for the WWW?
Thanks

Heck - wear your birthday pin...why not? It really does make the trip special. CMs and Guests alike will wish you "Happy Birthday".

There aren't many details out about WWW yet. I think we'll see more after "A Wild Decade" is over. I expect great things - Celebration 25 was a once in a lifetime experience.

As long as they dont ask what # birthday it is....lol

Well I am going to sign up for that newsletter for WWW to see what its all about!

OK, now who's stalking who?!!! :lmao:

CM's know better than to ask "which" birthday it is! They're very discreet and will just wish you "Happy Birthday"!!

You will LOVE the Segway tour. :thumbsup2 (I've done the one at Epcot; want to do the one at Ft Wilderness soon which I've heard is even better!)

OK, what newsletter for WWW? (I'm lost again it seems!) never mind, I found it!

Aha!....lol...you found me....!

Check out DisneyDeeva's post...she has a link posted...talks abt an event that takes place in WDW..sept 26-28....
Would love to do Segway....just not sure of my plans yet:) Except for MNSSHP! Oh, and the drinking wine part!

Did you guys take the interest poll at www.wdwcelebrations.com? It sounds like they might have some pretty cool ideas for special events. They put on quite the party for 10/1/07!!

I was @ Epcot on 10/1/07! Wish I'd known about the party. It was a great day to be there even without being part of an organized event! :thumbsup2 (except for the torrential rains that evening!)

I loved the rains - it's part of the Disney experience. Fortunately, we were safely tucked away at the Oddesey for most of the bad stuff (that's where they moved the Illuminations Desert Party) After that we enjoyed Illuminations at the Isola d'Italy - Jim McPhee even joined us for a bit. We were escorted out of Epcot well after midnight - last ones in the park. It was a once in a lifetime experience!!!

After taking the survey for WWW, I'm seriously considering taking a course to become Open Water Certified so I can do DiveQuest.
