I would really would like opinions of solo travelers. I have reserved this special event dining. I am very much looking forward to attending. But also very nervous. Would I get bored being by myself? Would it be too awkward being alone and trying to immerse myself with others at this event? Please advise. Thanks.

The first solo visit I took two years ago I had some of the same concerns you have. To combat them I decided to jump into the deep end of the pool and made reservations at CP in MK for dinner with Pooh and Friends. I figured if I could make it through a character dining experience without folks looking at me like a whacko, or worse, then I would never worry about it again. I brought a book with me just in case.

It turns out my fears were unfounded. The CMs made sure I had photos with all of the Characters and even had Tigger come back over when one of them saw that I had a Tigger tattoo. Two tables near me talked with me during dinner and had no concerns about a lone male in a Character Dining experience. They also helped me take photos with the characters. Since then I have had at least twenty-five solo meals and only twice have I had funny looks. I just smiled at those people and went on with my thing. I have found that a lot of other dinners will engage with you when you are dining alone if you make a joke or just ask a question. One night I had a two-hour conversation about Brexit and other political subjects with a couple from the UK, I told them I felt terrible about monopolizing their time, but they said they enjoyed the conversation and had a good time.

There have been meals where I just sat there and ate while not interacting with anyone but the CMs. To me, that's okay too. The key, I think, is not to worry about it and enjoy yourself and the food. Do you care what other people, who do not know you and you will most likely never see again, think?

All that being said, when are you going? If I am there I would be happy to sit with you and enjoy a meal and conversation!

Hello Donna! I had some solo time at the world last spring and it was my first experience traveling alone to Disney. My worries ended quickly. I was able to take on the day at my own pace and see exactly what I wanted to see.
A normal trip to Disney World usually consists of running all day with my son and sometimes trying to do more than I should. That kind of pace is not so Magical IMHO.

Now to talk about your question. I attended the Event at the Contemporary called "Sip,Savor,Sparkle" which is a special event where you eat food, drink whatever you're in the mood for and have a spot on the roof to view the MK fireworks. I think that is the same event you have a res. for? When I did that event on my own there were a number of other single people attending also. I had a great chat with another person that was there solo. She and I had a great talk about being solo at disney and the night flew by.

The view from the top of the Contemporary is just incredible at night in case this will be you're first time. Enjoy!!!!!

I appreciate everyone’s responses. I am looking forward to attending this event. It is something I have been wanting to try for a while. I’m going to keep my plans and treat myself to an evening out. I’ll be there in mid April. Thanks for the stories and encouragement. Donna

Im headed on my second solo trip ever and was debating booking a tour by myself. After debating it for the past week decided to finally book it today. Ive been to Disney several times since I have DVC and AP. Everytime I go Im usually rushing around with my family so its nice to kick back by yourself and not have to answer to anyone :)

I will be with family during my trip to Orlando. However, they will be headed to the west coast for several days. They do not want to go the parks - so I am planning 3 days in the parks by myself, while they are gone. I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to just doing what I want... while that sounds selfish, I am excited. The only fear I have is with the specialty dining. I plan to do mostly quick service meals, as some of my favorite foods can be found at those locations. I will try to order ahead with my app, as much as I can.
