I have some questions about solo dining:

If you are dining alone, can you request to sit at the bar to eat at the California Grill? And does that need an ADR?

And what other restaurants have bars that you can sit at to dine?

I would much rather sit where there is someone to talk to then to sit at a table by myself.

Thanks.

answer, for which I apologize. You may find help on the adult solo board.

(I'm actually a little curious myself. I will be traveling to Orlando on business soon and may make a stopover.)

At California Grill and I think at Jikos and Citricos you can request to sit at the counter to the open kitchen. This might be even nicer than the bar as you get to watch the action in the kitchen and I have read in reviews that the chefs sometimes passed on some tasting portions of what they are preparing. I would recommend getting an ADR in any case. Especially at CG they will most likely not let you up to their bar without a reservation. Also I have found the CG bar to be extremely crowded.

Otherwise, the only restaurant I have heard about where people were able to eat at the bar was at 50's Prime Time Cafe, the adjacent bar is the Tune In Lounge.

I have no idea about sitting at the bar/show kitchen area, but here's another idea: I always ask for "a view of something to watch since I'm dining alone and so won't have a dining companion to pass the time with." That's always gotten me a nice table, either window (at CG and Chef's de France), next to the tank at Coral Reef, on the porch at R&C. Also, at California Grill,my server was super nice, sat and talked with me several times during the meal.

You eat at the counter (open kitchen) at Flying Fish at the Boardwalk. It isn't really a bar as all the spaces seem to be reserved for diners. We have tried to have a drink there before and been told that the spaces are available only to diners. I don't think you need an ADR.

Narcoossees's also has a bar where you can dine. No ADR required.

Some times you can eat at the bar inside Citrico's and sometimes you can't. I think it depends on how crowded the restaurant is.

It is my understanding that they do not take reservations for bar seating at the California Grill-it is first come, first served.
