Solo adult - will I hate All Star Sports?

You will be surprised at how nice your newly refurbished All Star Sports room is! Sleek, clean, modern....smallish, but perfect for one person.
As far as your park hopping itinerary goes, if MK is open later than Epcot, you might want to switch and put MK last. This also works better for another reason... HS is closer to Epcot, so hopping from HS to Epcot is quicker.
I need to make a correction to my reply. All star Sports opened today and the rooms are not refurbished like Music and Movies have been. Switch to one of those All Stars to get the type of room I had described above.

I stayed at Music for my first solo at 47. It was great. It unfortunate though as you will get some looks from people as a solo older guy
I stayed there solo a couple of weeks ago thanks to an urgent need to escape a subpar off-site hotel and an amazing early morning discovery on Orbitz. I thought it was awesome. I was 3 rooms from the end in country fair but even so the walk wasn't that bad. Ate mickey waffles every morning and even took a chance on dinner one evening. The refurbed room was really great and I didn't experience any problems at all. Being on the top (3rd) floor likely cut down on noise. I always prefer top floor for that reason - nobody to make noise directly above you.

I'm not sure why you think you got looks. Even when I'm with the family I often run to get food or bring other things back on my own. 🤷‍♂️

For the trip you are planning, basically a one day park marathon, you just need a place to crash and any All Star resort will do that. I’ve stayed at all three of them, both pre and post renovation. It’s going to depend on when the mattress was last changed to know how the bed is, but since the resort just re opened, I’m sure everything got a good cleaning before reopening.

Heading to the parks one day (April 8) and then to Celebration for the car show 4/9.

Dolphin is $296/night

Disney Springs stuff like B Resort or Fairfield is less than $180/night

All Star Sports is $188/night

I’ve only ever stayed at deluxe or off property. I love the bubble. I’ll rd AK and hit HS in the afternoon, with evening at MK and a quick jaunt into Epcot.

Any thoughts, suggestions, etc are most welcome.
Just wanted to let you know that I recently found out that the All Star Sports rooms have NOT been renovated yet.

I stayed there as a solo a few years ago and it was fine.

Now, to be fair, I am not one to hang out at the resort all day long - breakfast and off to the parks rope drop to close - so the resort is a place to sleep. But as a solo who does not drive, I'm perfectly fine with a value resort.

I wouldn't, but I had a less than ideal experience at the All Stars. Maybe try a moderate?

I'd hate it if there were a bunch of teams staying there. It might be okay if you like that oversize theme outside and you're not going in expecting a whole lot. It's only for one night? I say give it a try. If the food court isn't appealing (or too far to walk), there's a McDonald's right outside the resort main entrance.

I almost booked a room at B Resort but the online reviews are absolutely terrible.

Because rooms at Sports only had a soft refurb (although think the lobby and caf had a spruce up) I'd pick Movies for refurbed rooms and better layout. Music also has refurbed rooms but a long, deep resort footprint so adds to the walk at the beginning and end of long park days. I only use the room as a safe place to sleep and shower so like many I don't see the point in paying more when I'm not going to get much use out of it. The All Star busing system is usually very good. Some bus sharing between the resorts but as its the only transportation, the volume is monitored closely and managed well. Sports is first up with shared busing but the older rooms tip the scales against it until the rooms are discounted in the future. POP has the skyliner and as a result think the buses have been scaled back. I'd opt for Movies then Music over Sports or POP right now.

Anyone stay there since the soft refurb? Wondering if it is nice and clean looking or old and worn looking?? I am booked for 3 nights in May and just now finding out it is not fully refurbed.

It’s clean. I’m picky, and it’s clean. Common areas are fresh/modern enough. But a refurbishment is long overdue - rooms are dated and feel cheap. Motel-style TINY bathroom with separate vanity. Two outlets outside of bathroom - both are loose from use and far from the bed.

If I had brought someone with me, especially anyone who might not have quite the love I do for the mouse, I would have feared for their reaction.

OP…op: where’d u wind up staying? Care to share ur solo experience at the hotel?

I ended up at All Star Sports. Got a preferred room (Surf’s Up first floor #6132) and check in was a breeze despite a long line and some serious-sounding issues ahead of me: “Yeah, that park hopper upgrade you had us do? We lost all our reservations and now the parks are full.”

Front desk staff was terrific, and felt very much like classic Disney front desk service is returning. Helpful and friendly and able to carry on a conversation while handling business.

The common areas are, as mentioned above, fresh and totally fine. Heavily themed, but well maintained, brightly lit and reasonably laid out. Poolside bartender was super cool - sent me to the gift shop to buy a bottle of whiskey when I tried to order one on the rocks. Unlike, say, Beach Club, I did always feel “in the way.” I can lump all over that resort and people watch, and even when the lobby is nuts, I feel like I’m somehow removed from the hustle. Not so at Sports. Short walks all around - parking to room, room to food court/pools/transportation. Gotta give the buses credit - they seemed to be waiting for me every time I strolled up. Pools looked good for kiddos.

The rooms…. need a renovation. Like, with dynamite, perhaps. Size was fine, and they were CLEAN, but just SO DATED. Two worn out outlets, impossibly small bathroom with external vanity, but not the nice kind. Days Inn 1988. Any Hampton Inn I’ve stayed at in the last ten years has felt more modern.

I wasn’t in the room much. But if I can get Swan/Dolphin within $100 of a value, I wouldn’t hesitate to upgrade next time.
