Solo ADRs

On the restaurant board someone posted that Ohana's doesn't take ADRs for a solo. Anyone know if this is true? Are there other restaurants that don't take single diners?

I can't answer for Ohana's, but everywhere I went on my solo trip was more than accommodating for solo. They were Garden Grill, Teppan Edo, BOG, Skipper Canteen, and Frontera Cocina. I also made and cancelled reservations at Liberty Tree Tavern and La Hacienda de San Angel. At Garden Grill I was given a 4 person table for myself.

Hopefully that helps, and hopefully someone else can answer about Ohana's for you.

I'm in agreement with Rory. I'm not sure about Ohana's but everywhere else I've had no problems! I actually loved dining at San Angel Inn on my own. It was great and relaxing.

Ohana definitely takes ADRs for solo travelers. FYI, if there are no more tables for one, try looking for a table for two. For some reason, for years the system has had different inventories for single vs. duo parties even though the tables are the same ones.

They won't mind if you arrive as one person. Just be aware that you'll be on the hook for two people if you no-show or don't cancel in time to avoid the penalty.

When I travel solo I will make my initial ADRs for two people, then go into the app and modify them to one. For some reason when initially searching for two, MDE doesn't like that.

I booked an ADR for one at the Plaza two years ago but last year I couldn't seem to book for one at Yak & Yeti so I booked for two and had a story all worked out (sorry the other diner is ill so it's just me). Then I tried to change it just in case and found this was possible. So no little white lies needed

There are lots of restaurants that, if you try to make a solo reservation, it will show no availability. I can't remember which ones, because I stopped trying years ago. Now I, too, make all my ADRs for two people. Who knows? Maybe I'll run into someone I'd like to invite to share lunch with me, or maybe DH will suddenly surprise me and show up. Neither has actually happened, and when I get to the restaurant, I just say that DH had to go back home, or my dining partner's sick, or "No, I'm the only one here" without explanation. It's never been a problem, and I've never been charged a "no show" because one of the two people didn't show up. Besides, it's the same size table whether it's one or two people.

When booking an reservation it will automatically default to 2 , scroll up and 1 will appear . I just verified this just to be sure . Enjoy

I'm planning my first solo trip and when my ADR window opened up a couple weeks ago, I found no availability for 1 at many restaurants on my list. But then (within the first 10 minutes -- I wasn't wasting any time!) I switched my search to tables for 2. Found everything I wanted.

Over the next few days I kept going in to see if I could adjust my reservations to just for one (I didn't want to have to fib if I could help it). I have been able to make all the changes -- except for Ohana! (I'm not above fibbing just once!)

I wonder if Dining Guest Services can manually adjust your reservation in the system. I haven't tried this but it seems reasonable enough if you're willing to go through the hassle of calling them. Have a really great vacation!!

That's a good idea. I have to call next week to make some reservations (horseback riding!) for a second trip coming up this summer. I could ask then if they are able to make the change. Sometimes people can do things that computer systems can't!
