My parents sold their house in Estes Park. They are going to move down to the suburbs of the Longmont/Fort Collins area. They didn't move to Estes Park until all of us kids were grown and on our own, so it was never "home" for any of us. My parents lived in the house for almost 20 years. That's the longest that either of them had ever lived in any one place.
For all 9 of their grandkids, that house was always "Grandma and Grandpa's house." My kids have spent about half of the Christmases that they remember there. We've been visiting about once or twice a year. We'll miss the place.
It was a great place for photography. It was very close to Rocky Mountain National Park. For anyone familiar with the area, it was just up the road from the Estes Park YMCA camp. The house had an elk migratory pathway running behind and beside it, so you always saw lots of wildlife. On just about every trip there, we saw elk, deer, and coyote. We saw innumerable little rodent type creatures. During the summer, we also saw lots of hummingbirds.
