I just made stuffing for the first time and it's soggy. :guilty: Will it be any better tomorrow since I have to reheat it or should I try again?

can you just add in some more bread?

I already cooked it if that matters. I had no clue what it was supposed to look like before it went in the oven. Is it ok to add more after it has been cooked?

Mine is pretty soggy before I bake it. Once it's baked it dries out quite a bit. You could still add more bread now.

Hmmmmm...I would think you could just leave it uncovered and maybe bake it in a low oven for a few more minutes...

It kinda depends though on what you have in it. If you have any meat in it, that could get really overcooked and not be good.

OK here is what I did, I hope it helps. I added more bread and mixed it up. SO here is hoping it will be OK when I reheat it tomorrow. I was told to add some chicken broth to it before I reheat it. Now I am having second thoughts about adding the broth to reheat it.

Don't add any more broth just yet. When you put it in the oven, bake it uncovered and stir it every few minutes. Between baking it and the added bread it should turn out fine. Taste it to see if it may need more seasoning during the baking process.

THanks for all the tips. I am making my first Thanksgiving tomorrow and I am starting to stress a bit.

I know it's hard, but try not to stress! I find that it's when I'm stressed that I flip out and start forgeting things and making mistakes, which makes me even more stressed!

If you don't have it already, run out to the store and buy back-up boxes of Stove Top Stuffing, this way if some disaster befalls your homemade stuffing (doesn't dry out, dries out too much, you burn it, it catches on fire, the dog eats it, etc...) you can whip up the Stove Top in about 5 minutes. If you don't need it, you can donate to a food pantry or just keep it on hand and make it as a side dish whenever you have chicken.

It's better to be a bit soggy before it goes in the oven. Have you ever had dried out stuffing? Yuck!
