SOG vs CSR ??

We have stayed onsight at Disney twice. Once was Carribean Beach and the other was the Contemporary. We are now going back with myself , DH , our 7yoDS, and new DD (will be 8 months). We try to go to DW every year so we were tossing an AP back and forth for the last couple of weeks. Now the AP rates have come out and I called to book Coronado for 8 nights for $121.54. Our rate with SOG is around $70ish I think. I have never even seen CSR resort before !! I have heard that GOG has HUGE rooms and the people who have stayed there seem to love it. We always rent a car so I am not sure transportation is a huge deal to us either !! Has anyone stayed and both that can let me know which you prefer

We will be staying there in a few weeks - but I have visited the hotel - and its beautiful - the rooms are huge, the grounds are very nice, the staff is very friendly and for the $50 extra you would be spending a night you could do some other fun things - like and extra character meal, or Fantasmic Dinner Pkg, or treat yourself to some time at the spa - every new mom could use that.... just some thoughts!!!!

Very true. if SoG is booked for your dates, they will offer you overflow rates at a very nice discount; better than AP, I think.

I asked a CM today and she said no word yet on military rates but they do expect them to come out soon. (Past few years, they have been 40% off rack)

SoG will offer overflow rates IF there are any available. I booked POP with an overflow rate for the last week of June and got $74 + tax ($25 off rack rate). When I had to change my dates to early June, I called SoG back and there were no overflow rates available, so I booked at rack ($99 + tax).

Happily, I was able to replace that with an AP rate today, but if not, there wasn't anything SoG could do for me.

Disney sets the overflow rates, and apparently they are set much like AP/FL resident, i.e., they are based on occupancy.

If you're able to get into SOG go for it.
My daughter is Air Force Reserve she just booked us 5 nights @ $76. per night.
NO TAXES
The hotel has just been remodeled it's beautiful.

I asked a similar question earlier and the general consensus seems to be that SoG is a great value and a great resort. The rate we are getting for our stay at the end of April is $72/night! I have read elsewhere that it's not a resort that gives you that Disney atmosphere, but for the size of the rooms and location it's unbeatable.

As soon as we know DH's leave dates for sure, I'm going to book it ASAP! Good luck and have a great trip!

You will not be sorry to stay at SOG. For one thing you will be a monorail ride away from MK where your kids will probably want to be most of the time. Also, the rooms at SOG have a head high partition that seperates the beds from a little sitting area. That might come in handy when trying to settle the baby. I've stayed there a bunch of times and am leaving on Sat. for another trip. I can't wait to see the renovated hotel and all of the new rooms. CSR is one of our favorite places for food. We love the Pepper Market. I just don't think you can beat SOG and you'll have money left over. We pay $104 a night and still think its the best benefit that we get from the military.

I wouls prefer CSR because I love Disney theming. CSR is one of my favorite resorts. Your DD will love the pool!

Sog is smaller and quieter than most WDW resorts. It only has 600 rooms. The rooms are LARGE! There are two pools but no water slides. The restaurants are also somewhat cheaper than the WDW restaurants. Here is a site with pics.

Just a heads up... if you want the 'divider wall', be sure to ask for rooms in the old (unrenovated) section, as the divider walls are not present in the new addition. HTH!
