When I was asking about the SOG 8 person suites a while back, I couldn't find any info or pictures. We stayed there for three nights after a night at POP last Sunday through Wednesday. I thought some of you might like to see some pics. They are pending approval, but can be found here later:

I think there are now 11 of these king suites at SOG. The price is only $225 (no tax). There are no extra adult charges for up to 4 adults. My family of 4 and my parents were very happy and comfy here.
We had room 121. There is a separate room with a king bed that has its own bathroom, fridge, TV, entrance, and patio.
The main living area is huge. It has two patios, 2 murphy beds, 2 recliners, a pull-out couch, huge TV, table, bar, bath, entrance, fridge, etc.

We loved this room and didn't want to leave! I think it's the best deal on Disney. Hopefully the photos will be up soon. If anyone has questions, please ask. :D

Great pictures - thanks!! Was this suite in the new or old section?

the toilet shots? is that a urinal or bidet?

Thanks trip! I think this room was in the old section. I only stayed at SOG once prior to the rehab, and it was years ago. This room was very near both pools and Evergreens. Everything in it looked to be in very good condition.

akrake, It's a bidet. My 8 year old son was amazed by it...:teeth:

Hi

Thanks for sharing. I have been thinking about staying in one for awhile but am not sure yet. I can get 2 rooms for $180. Would it be worth $45 more a night to get a suite instead of 2 rooms? Are there 2 bathrooms in the suite? Thanks for any help you can give.:)

I wanted to correct a mistake on my part from above. There are now 11 suites, but "5 Family Suites sleep up to six guests and 6 Family Suites sleep up to eight guests".

Thanks, Tara! :D

Suevee, Good morning! Yes, there are two bathrooms. Off the king bedroom, there is a regular full bath with a separate sink area. Off the main living area there is a large bath with separate sink, bathing, and toilet areas.
There are also two fridges. It was definitely worth it for us. We took my parents, who stayed in the king room. It allowed us privacy when needed, yet plenty of comfy seating when we just wanted to be together.
I'm a little confused about the $180 for two rooms. Here's a link to the SOG rate sheet:

I am wondering the same thing as suevee. There will be 8 of us next June 2005 and I have 2 rooms reserved for a total of $167/night (our room will be $72/night & the other will be $95/night) and I am wondering if $58 more per night will be worth the suite. We have asked for connecting rooms on our reservation, but of course that is not guaranteed, but getting a suite would guarantee it. It is good to know that there are 2 bathrooms.

dandave - you have mentioned that king bedroom and the main living area but what are the other sleeping arrangments? Thanks.:D

Hi heidica! There were two murphy beds:

and a pull out couch:

in the main living area.

The murphy beds were, I believe, queens. DH and I have a queen at home, and they seemed the same size to me. They were extremely comfortable, in any case.
We never used the pull out couch for sleeping, but did open it for my son's amusement on the last morning. It was not as comfy as the murphy beds, but seemed OK. I think it was a queen, as well. I hope that helps! :D

Dandave, Thanks for the info. I was estimating the cost of 2 rooms since we won't be able to go again until 2006, and we like poolside ground floor. I am not sure about the hassle of pulling down the murphy beds when different people are tired or come in at different times. We would be going with our grandson (4), granddaughter (11), and 2 adult daughters. For us it might be nicer to get two rooms and let the girls bunk together with the children. Connecting rooms would be the ideal.

heidica and suevee, You're both very welcome!

suevee, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful vacation in two rooms. I love going to WDW with my parents. Have fun! :D

Great pics but please don't tell me that is plastic covering the sofa, is it?

skiwee1, Hi! Plastic? Nope. Perhaps my pic is just "shiney" or something. Lol!!
That was a very comfy couch when closed, by the way. DS (10) and I both fell asleep on it in the closed position during election night, watching TV. ;)

This is the same suite that we stayed in back in January of 2001. We also had 2 additional connecting standard rooms and were able to accomodate my extended family of 11. My dad (retired DOD) and mom were in the room with the king bed, my husband, son and I were in one of the standard rooms and my sister and her husband and 2 sons were in another standard room. My unmarried brother and sister each slept in one of the Murphy beds. If you didn't want to bother with pulling down the Murphy beds, you might request that housekeeping leave them down. I think that at SOG they put them up, although when I was in a suite at the Dolphin this past summer, the Murphy bed was left in the down position all the time. If you opted to keep the beds down, you would have plenty of room to walk around...way more than you would in a standard size room. We liked the refrigerator in the mini bar area but all the rooms have refrigerators now.
