My sister's husband is a medic in the reserves (army) and after a year in Bosnia (he barely made it back for his son's birth), he has been called up again (left in March 2002) for what may be a 2-3 yr deployment depending on what happens with Iraq...

Anyhoo- my sister was thinking about flying out to visit us and taking her little one (and we would go too) to WDW. But, to get the Shades of Green privileges does her hubby have to accompany her on the trip?

HMMM! This doesn't seem quite fair that while he is overseas for 2 or maybe even 3 years she can't use SOG until he returns.

She can use the commissary and other military benefits ar in place while he is active.....

Ahhh well! I'll just have to keep reading the boards and find her a good deal...

and pray that her hubby comes home soon and safe and sound.

PS what is a DoD??

Thanks-
Steph

Sponsored guests must be accompanied by the Military/DoD sponsor at check-in and throughout the entire stay.

All the above means is that any person with a valid active/retired/dependent ID card (children included), MUST be present throughout the entire stay of the party. A "sponsored guest" is one who is not eligible to stay at SoG, but will be staying because they are being sponsored by an eligible guest.

We had it happen many times where Grandma and Grandpa want to treat the kids to Disney but the parents can't/don't want to go. As long as some one has a valid dependent ID card in the name and SSN on the reservation, that's all we cared about. :)

Ditto FirstNo, my husband is in the reserves and I take my daughter with my military ID card. I have had no problem. She should book early though.

Maybe the wording on the SOG website should be changed to reflect that. If you look at your tan ID card it states that the sponsor is the person who is /was in the military. ;)

But that is a nice fact to know incase my husband can't join us for our next trip.
