SOG Parking

I too called Sog..It seems that as of January 1 free access to parking by SoG patrons was stopped. However, it was not enforced until two weeks ago. So when we stayed in March we were able to access the parks without paying. That is no longer an option.

I have suggested to them that they post this change on their website. Also that they tell people when they make new reservations that free parking at the theme parks is no longer available.

Well, that's a real bummer! I wonder why they've decided to go this route. During the slow season for Disney, I'm thinking they might loose some patrons between the room rates (if you don't mind a value), free dining, and paying for parking. hmmm... Oh well! At least we all now know! Thanks for sharing the info.

Disney would just LOVE it if we all decided SOG was no longer a good value and we booked their rooms instead. They keep trying to find some way to get more of our money, and this time it might work. Nasty way to treat the military though.

I think parking and EMH issues are in a contract that SoG has with Disney. Most likely SoG no longer wanted to pay for the priviledge of free parking for their guests. Maybe Disney hiked the prices.

At any rate if you want to complain the best person to contact would be the manager of SoG. He/she would know exactly why this perk was abolished and if it could be reinstated like the EMH hours were back in 2006 (they were suspended for three months until SoG and Disney came to an agreement)

Becca has a point I think. Between jacking up stroller prices and the changes to the DP, Disney is looking to nickel and dime as much as they can.

As for me, we are in the highest category ourselves so we pay the highest rates. paying for parking is not really a concern for us as we tend to fly and just use a service to get there and I am quite content to walk to Poly /TTC if our schedule doesn't jive with the SoG Bus schedule.

For us, we choose to stay at SoG because we cannot get a better deal at our preferred locations( Poly or better). Since we don't have kids and have no use for themed pools the Values and Mods just don't hold any appeal to us.

I would start to seriously rethink that if and when SoG Patrons no longer have access to EMH, though. That is the ONE perk I do use and if Disney denied that to us I would also consider making a comment in their general direction. First they yanked their Free tickets program, and now this.

I am never one to assume that just because my Spouse is a Naval Officer we are entitled to extra perks, but I also appreciate any business that chooses to honor our Servicemembers for their sacrifice. to no longer offer them is a statement that economics or not, says something less than positive.

I in no way mind paying for parking at the parks or at the hotel. I just don't want to pay double if that makes any sense. I guess I don't understand why guests would have to both. Too bad SOG wouldn't cut out their $5 parking fee. Oh well! We love SOG, but will probably only stay there during the busy seasons that we visit Disney World.

I agree that EMH is a big perk for us. When we stayed for honeymoon we loved being able to go to the parks and really enjoy it without the huge crowd.

I agree that we, as spouses or as servicemembers, should think that we are entitled to something. I do think that these little perks that other businesses offer to us helps with morale and retention. I also think it shows that those businesses truly support our servicemembers. Hopefully Disney and SOG can come to better terms for the future. By having SOG there on property it truly helps some of the lower ranking pay grades to be able to afford a great family vacation to Disney World that they might not be able to afford elsewhere.
