SoG overflow - who 'owns' this reservation?

I'm so confused. We made our requests for Shades for our upcoming Christmas stay. We were offered overflow to the Poly which was our first choice anyway, yippee! I was sent a blue & white confirmation from Disney with instructions to mail a mo or check deposit to a Chicago address. It took a while to get the actual confirmation in the mail and I didn't want to take a chance of the deposit not getting to them in time so I called the number on the conf to give a cc. The cro CM's couldn't 'touch' my reservation - not even to apply a deposit by cc. I have a Disney cc, not the Disney visa but the original Disney cc. I was planning to put the deposit on that. Well, since Disney can't take my deposit, I had to go back thru SoG and they can't take the Disney cc. Not a big issue as much as an annoyance, but I used my debit visa instead. I still don't understand why Disney can accept checks from me but any cc payments before checkin must go thru Shades. I sure hope someone is able to follow this because I was really confused yesterday. So, Shades 'owns' my reservation and I have to go thru them to change or cancel but the Poly will be paid right?

Anyone know why the cash vs cc thing exists - as far as cash/check goes to Disney, but cc payments go thru Shades? I was hoping to pay some of the balance before check-in but making payments ahead of time makes me feel like there is a chance of them getting lost between Shades and the Poly. One thing that I would at least feel reassured about it being able to check my reservation online thru disneyworld.com but because it is thru Shades, I can't pull it up there either. It does show but only the dates and I can't get any details.

One other question (sorry so many): does anyone know how I can make a building or floor request since CRO cannot view or edit my reservation?

SOG is owned by the military, not Disney. So if you called SOG to make a ressie (even if you are overflowed to another facility) they still are in charge of your ressie. I had the same thing happen last year. Unless you actually cancel thru SOG (for example, if you got a better rate or code to apply to Poly) you will still be "owned" by SOG.

We also have an overflow ressie for December (CR Tower for $179 yeay!) We had to make our room requests through SOG, who passed along the info to Disney. When we added a room request through SOG, we got another confirmation letter from Disney that said MODIFIED but nothing was modified on it. I called CRO and they could see my room requests even though they couldn't touch the ressie. However, my medical necessity request for non-smoking didn't make it over. The CRO agent suggested I call SOG again so that the non-smoking room can be guaranteed.

And yes, we have to go through SOG to change or cancel anything on the ressie, but the hotel will be paid. When we made our deposit, the actual cc charge was still made by Disney, so I am guessing that SOG just passes along our info anyway.
