We are eligible to stay at the Shades Of Green Resort - I looked up our dates on their website, and they are booked solid. Does anyone know if they still offer overflow rates to other Disney Resorts? Has anyone gotten a recent overflow rate, and if so, what was it like?

We are looking at the month of May, 2005 - thanks in advance!! :)

go ask them now!!!

May is when the new celebration starts and all the WDW resorts are going fast!!!

If you find the right link on the Reservations Page on the SOG website you can request overflow reservations. They give you a few choices of resorts and will send you an e-mail with quotes. This does not lock you in until you make a deposit. We have not had an overflow rate with them lately, but I know the past overflow rates were better than AP rates (a little bit). We were hoping for overflow for June, but there are still rooms available during our timeframe. Maybe I will check again!

Well, I just called & went ahead & booked the POP Century for our dates in May. We got an overflow rate of $74/night, or $82.51 w/tax. This is better than the $99/night current rack rate for our dates - but, still holding out hope for an AP rate that might be better. I think I read of someone with a postcard rate getting a Value for $59/night in May/June - it'd definitely make our trip doable if we could get that rate! :)

Cameo - forgot to mention - although the on-line system showed our dates booked solid, she told me they had about 3 rooms left for my dates. She was able to go ahead & check out the overflow for me anyways though. Just a thought - you might want to call & see if they can do the same for you in June - it might depend on how many rooms are actually left. I know for us (w/hubby's current rank) it is cheaper for us to do overflow. HTH! :)

Hi,
Would you mind sharing what dates you asked for and if you asked for overflow rates for other resorts? The online reservation system shows no availability for 5/22 to 5/30 (runs through memorial day weekend) but they have availability whenever I call. We already have a package booked with a pin code but I wanted to see what SOG overflow rates would be for Poly or CR. Last December's overflow rates were awesome.
Thanks!

I did recheck my dates online and they were now booked (within the last week). I tried to call for overflow, but ran out of time on hold when they closed for the day. When has anyone had the best luck getting through on the phone? I know the hold times can be lengthy sometimes.

arizonacolbys - That rate for POP does not seem that great. Yes, hopefully you will get something better with the AP rate. We were waiting for AP rates also, but I was thinking SOG overflow would be better. Maybe that has changed.????

Unless they've changed their phone system, those who are on hold when they hit the "closed for the day" button, remain on hold until the last call is answered.

As to the best time of the day, that would be 8am, Mon thru Fri. Start dialing at 759. :)

javaj - My dates are 5/12-5/21/05 - when I called she said they actually still had a couple of rooms left for my dates, but that was it. I asked if that meant I couldn't check for overflow and she said she could. I just asked for Value Resort prices & she gave me All Star Sports & POP Century. If the rate had been better, I might have inquired about a moderate/deluxe.

Cameo - not sure how the overflow rates have been done in the past - but, I think for each of our trips overflow has never been quite as good as an AP rate. Sometimes they have been comparable, but I've never found it cheaper. Could be the times of year we go - maybe other times overflow can be better? Just glad right now that we have our room booked somewhere - still holding out lots of hope for a great AP rate to make our Anniversary trip much more doable. :)

Thanks for the info!

Last December, we used an overflow rate for CR tower of $179. Poly GV, BC, and YC were $169. The overflow for values was the same as rack rate, they quoted me a $77 rate...

I asked if I could get an overflow rate but they said not until it was sold out, I guess I could try again, but those hour long+ holds are very frustrating. Maybe next week

Well the website said they were booked for my timeframe (May 31-June 10), but upon calling today they still have 58 rooms available. No overflow for me. Not now anyway. I guess I'll keep hoping for AP.

I have reserved from the 6th to the 13th and there are pleanty of rooms still available for that time. I'm actually somewhat excited about the larger room.

We were able to stay at the CR last year with the SOG rate of $70 a night... that was a real treat!

does anyone know if you can overflow if you just call to request a suite? that might be one way of getting to a deleux if sog isn't totally booked.

I was told in the fall that the website shows full when it is at approx. 80% to prevent over booking. I've been disappointed when I've called thinking I was going to get an overflow only to find out that they still had rooms.

I have found that around 10:00 or 2:00 is a good time to call. I have been hold with them when the recording says "your call will be answered in the order it was received..." and then at 5:00 the recording switched over to "we are closed and to call between regular business hours..." Which is very frustrating, especially after holding 10-15 minutes and then have this happen.

We haven't stayed at SOG for a few years, but are considering for our July trip. Haven't heard the best things about the bus system and have become spoiled by Disney transportation.
