SOG is booked in July so i made a request on the web for rates at the YC and GF. I received an email today for a reservation at the BC. Also the rate was the regular rate, no discount!! Whats up with this? Anyone have any info on overflow rates?:confused3 Its been a few years since we've booked a room in a resort other than SOG but we always received a reduced rate.:sad2:

Are you going through SOG? The last time (it has been at least three years) we looked at staying at SOG and they were booked they were going to put us in CR (that was their overflow at the time). The rate was going to be a little higher but it wasn't what the 'normal' CR rate was. If you are looking into YC or GF on your own then you can't expect to get the same rate as SOG.

Yes, I requested a rate through the SOG website. I know I will not get the same rate as if I were staying at SOG. But the rate I was quoted was the regular rate as if I called Disney and booked. I was given no discount whatsoever. Since its been a while since I have booked an overflow, I wondered if there has been a change in policy.

I think the really low discounted overflow rates are long gone. I also think it depended on what inventory Disney wanted to give up to SOG. I think Disney has tightened it's reigns.

We did this one time 2 years ago and it worked perfectly! Second time 1 year ago, even though the SOG site said they had no rooms left, I was emailed reg rates for POR. I called to find out why and she said they do have rooms left but the Web site is updated based on their "predictions" (or was then anyway). If you call, you may find they actually do have SOG rooms available and that might be why they quoted you regular rates.

Good luck to you!

Thanks! I think you may be right about this. I will call today and check. I was looking forward to a stay in one of the Deluxe Resorts, but the SOG rates can't be beat! ;)

SOG is a deluxe resort.

I agree with you. I would classify SOG as either a moderate or a deluxe, especially after the remodeling it went through. I also agree that the op should call SOG directly, we never had any luck with the SOG website being too accurate or up-to-date.

If you are going at an extremely busy time (say Fourth of July week) SOG might have a very small number of overflow rooms at the other resorts so if SOG can't get you into SOG or into one of their limited number of overflow rooms you will have to pay rack rates for wherever you choose to stay (happened to us before).

Good luck.

Wow you guys are tough!;) I should have written a Disney owned deluxe resort. Anyway, to update: Robindianne was right. Even though the SOG website indicated that the resort was booked, there were rooms available. Thus no overflow rates were offered. I changed my reservation from the Beach Club to SOG. :thumbsup2

I think Disney has really changed the overflow offerings with SOG, years ago you could get an overflow rate at a Disney delux resort for the SOG price (which was very very nice) but the last few years SOG's overflow rates have not been much cheaper than standard disney prices. Last time I was quoted a SOG overflow rate (2 years ago I think) it was for POFQ and it was only about $10 cheaper a night than the standard room rate. So I think they are much stricter on the overflows now, I'd much rather stay at SOG (and possibly have to change my dates) unless they are going to give me a really really great overflow rate (which isn't likely).
