sog overflow plan?

If SOG is booked for your dates, you can ask them to check their over-flow rates. It is not the same rates at SOG, but they are cheaper than rack rates. Not so sure they are about the same discount as an AP'er. Example, on May 27th of this year, I could not get SOG so I did get CBR for 104 a night. I am not really sure how that messures out. It is a holiday weekend, and a moderate. Always worth checking into. Only problem if you book overflow everytime you make a change etc you MUST deal with SOG and not disney. Disney CM's can not tell you/fix anything to do with your ressies. Hope this helps. I have done this many times. :bounce:

I also booked with the SOG overflow program for our June 8th-15th trip. There will be five of us this time. We were able to book the Port Orleans for $94 a night, or $104 with tax. That saved us about $45 dollars a night instead of having to pay rack rate since we are AP holders or Florida res. :cool1:

First of all you must be eligible to stay at SOG, being a member of the military, retired military or DOD employee.

We are booked overflow with SOG in June. We have booked overflow with SOG for nearly every one of our 10 trips to WDW. In my experience it is always a little better discount than an AP rate. For instance, this June we are paying $216 (plus tax) for Poly Garden View. I believe the AP rate was about $20 more than that.

As I understand there are only a certain number of overflow rooms available and once a certain resort is sold out, you won't have that option. It has always been a matter of timing for us. Sometimes we have good selections, sometimes we do not. And something can be available one day and gone the next.

Just some clarification......Unless the rules concerning overflow have changed, ANY ONE is eligible for overflow. That stated, DISNEY overflow and, I believe, the Hilton in DD were the only ones we had to provide to those eligible to stay at SoG. Why? Because they were the ones who specifically would check for ID cards. Any of the other hotels offered in overflow (on and off Disney property) could be offered to ANY ONE. My info came directly from the reservations manager (my boss, at the time).

As to the second paragraph, yes, a certain block of rooms are provided to the hotel to sell (as they are to travel agents and what not). Once those rooms are gone, they will not necessarily stay gone. The hotels SoG deal with check their availability each day and make changes accordingly. So, it is possible that you call/email one day and, for argument's sake, the Lake Buena Vista is available for $79/nt. You choose to wait a day before making the resv so you can discuss it with the family and now you find the price has gone up to $89. Or, you REALLY wanted to stay at the BC, but nothing was available. You call back the next day and now it's available for $189/nt. The availability and rates can change each day. The system used to work by the manager downloading the availability each morning before the lines would open; so, whatever was available at 8am would stay available until close. Again, it *may* have changed as I know they updated their resv system shortly before reopening the hotel. :)
