SOG or POP?

We are going for 9 nights next November. We were planning on spending 4 nights at SOG then transferring over to POP for the last five nights. My DH is thinking that maybe we should just spend the whole vacation at SOG. I am torn. It will just be him, myself and our DD4. We were thinking of getting two rooms at POP, in case our DD fell asleep earlier than us. But SOG has the balcony, so we could hang out there. We would save $155 staying at SOG the whole trip. I am just afraid SOG is too "grown up" and my daughter will miss out on the excitement of POP. We are going in November so I am not sure if we will be swimming or not. Will we be missing out on alot if we stay at SOG the whole time? BTW, we will not have a car.

I have never stayed at POP so this is biased in favor of SoG.

One of the main reasons I think SoG is so great is because the resort is smaller than the WDW owned resorts so the pools are hardly ever crowded. Also the rooms are huge, the grounds beautiful, and the food cheap in comparison to the the WDW restaurants. Also it is so easy to get to MK and Epcot (our two favorite parks)!!!

If you choose Sog, I would suggest asking for the older section to be closer to the pools and also to get that little wall that sets off the sleeping area from the sitting area. Our granddaughter would insist on sleeping on the pull out sofa instead of the bed because it seemed like a little hideaway to her behind the wall. Made if very easy when she fell asleep first!!!

Don't forget that SOG guests are not eligible for Magical Express transfer services. You may still come out ahead by staying @ POP for a few days just to use that benefit.

While I think SOG is a wonderful place it's just NOT Disney to me. Yes, the room would be larger at SOG and the pools might not be as busy. But the pools at SOG are BORING compared to POP. The atmosphere at POP is great fun, the busses are better (no waiting in the middle of the parking lot with a little kid), and I think the food quality and flavor is much better.

We're eligible to stay at SOG but we don't often for the reasons I mentioned above - and while Magical Express is FREE we certainly won't choose SOG over a Disney resort.

We have always gone in Nov. We stayed at SOG the last time with our boys (now 19 and 21, then 12 and 14). They were not bored. There are lots of children there. It is not an "adult" resort. We swam a little, but it's not the same as going in the summer. I love the resort and it's a great deal. The rooms are large and it's very laid back and relaxing. I don't think transportation to the resort is any reason to pick one over the other. The resort itself should be the reason you choose it. Our children always stayed in the same room as us everywhere we went until they were 16+ and they always, from the time they were infants, fell asleep while we watched the tv on low or sat outside. I guess because I never made it entirely quiet for them from the day I brought them home from the hospital so they could sleep with the lights on or off, the tv on or off and us talking quietly. I used to vacuum their rooms while they napped. That has come in handy in college as they can sleep while their roommates are up studying or talking. So, that was never an issue in staying anywhere. SOG also has two queen sized beds and a sleeper sofa. Pop, I'm pretty sure has two doubles.

Stay at SOG. If your daughter wants to try a different resort, walk over to the Poly. I don't care what anyone says, they won't ask for ID or to show your key to use the pool.
