SOG Eligibility Question

Thanks for the replies. One of the things we were concerned about was that AD people might not be so accepting. My nephew is AD and he's very snide about my husband's status, and it's not all joking, there's a lot of real resentment behind it.

We actually decided to go ahead and book, and whoever I talked to told me they were practically empty (second week in Sept. in case anyone's interested in booking dates.)

No disrespect towards your family is intended, but it sounds like your nephew needs to grow up (big swift kick in the head probably wouldn't hurt) and worry about his own life; not whether or not your husband is on active service and what kinds of benefits he is choosing to use. Tell him to mind his own business and don't share any thing with him. If he is nosy enough to ask, tell him it's a "family matter" and you don't feel comfortable discussing it with him. He'll get the hint eventually. It's a shame his parents haven't told him of his rudeness. He should be thankful your husband is doing his part to serve his country. Many people don't. I'd love to see mandatory military service (like some nations have). Maybe then there would be such an uproar that our service members would receive more respect and have the benefits they deserve. But, that's a whole 'nother can of worms for another board <g>.

Back on target, I'm glad you decided to use SoG. Truly, it is there for YOUR use. Get every thing out of it you can. Although I had my problems with those in charge while working there, I NEVER would have been able to spend 10-12 nights every year (while I was in the service) at DW if it wasn't for SoG. I am thankful they were there for me and they continue to be there for you. :)

Madge, sorry I didn't reply to you a few weeks ago when you had such nice things to say about me. :::Bad FirstNo Bad FirstNo Bad FirstNo::: I did appreciate what you wrote and I was always happy to help. :)

I wanted to say that I agree with everyone who said that reservists should feel perfectly comfortable at SOG. My husband was active duty for over 20 years but he never could have done his job without the wonderful reservists that gave so much to the USMC. Many of our friends are or were reservists and they were every bit as much a marine as any of the actives. I think reservists are selfless and dedicated. There is never any big monetary "payoff" for being in uniform and things like the SOG make all of us feel special and appreciated.
