Soft opening for F&W??

We'll be spending Thursday 9/28 at Epcot, and I was wondering if they have ever done a soft opening of the F&W Festival. We leave for home on that following Saturday, and this will be our last chance to visit Epcot. If the official opening date for the Festival is 9/29 (I think this is the posted day) what are our chances of snacking around the World on 9/28?

I'm reasonably certain there's no chance of that. This is I think the 10th Food & Wine Festival, so there's really no need for Disney to "test" any of it with a soft opening. The booths may be set up in advance, but as far as I know they won't be open until the 29th. How much trouble would it be for you to change your plans and go to Epcot that Friday, instead?

Actually, it's possible.

We were there last year on Thurs. 9/29. We were surprised to see that booths were open - not sure how many were though.

we went to F&W last year and they had the booths opened up the day before the official opening. They were doing rehearsals, setting up the booths, and they had everything on the menu available for purchase. I was quite surprised that they were open, but the CMs manning the booths said they have to do this to make sure everything goes smoothly when they actually open. Last year was also the first time they were taking DDP snack credits, so they were testing out the machines too.

There were some booths that we visited where their credit card machine wasn't working yet, so we had to pay cash for some of the food items. The CMs were still learning the menu so there was some waiting that we had to do.

Overall though, all the booths were open, food was being sold, wines were dispensed, and your money was being taken!

I'm hoping they do the same thing this year, because then I'll get 2 days to eat and drink instead of one.
