Sofia M&G or character bfast?

We had planned to do Hollywood and Vine to meet princess Sofia (breakfast). We figured this was a win-win since we have to be at the park early so we can sign up for Jedi Training. Now that we booked the Sci Fi Star Wars meal, we essentially lost a credit. So now I'm trying to figure out which meal I should cut from our plans. Since Sofia also does M&G as well, I was thinking we didn't "need" to do this for bfast - unless it's just a great experience. It's all about Sofia and not really the other bfast characters - don't get me wrong, they'd enjoying meeting them too but Sofia is a MUST!!

IF we cancel this, then we would keep our Fantasmic Dining at Mama Melrose that evening (again, not going for the food but the passes). We are also doing CRT, Sci Fi SW bfast and Chef Mickey (and I'm hopeful for a BOG FP+). So it's either cancel H&V bfast or Fantasmic dinner package. We have DS-8, DD-6 & DD4. Anyone have any experiences with H&V bfast or Sofia M&G? Or any other general opinions?? I feel like whenever I make a decision, Disney changes something and I have to obsess all over again!

I haven't done the H & V meal, but I have met Sophia at HS. If the H & V is like the other character meals, the character interaction time isn't super long (a pic and possibly an autograph) before they move on to the next table and it can take some time for them to get around to all of the tables. If you choose to just meet Sophia, try to get to her as early in the day as possible and she will have the shortest line of the day, and you can get some cute pics and some one-on-one time. I know however, the H & V meal is the only way to see Doc McStuffins, so that is something to consider (though she may not be important to you.)

Someone else might be able to fill you in whether the H & V meal provides a little more than a simple go around to each table meet, and if so, you might choose the meal. But otherwise, I would just meet her in the park if it were me. :)

I was doing a bit of research on H&V Character meals. From what I have read, that it is participatory and kids can join in the action. Hopefully someone on the board has done this and can let us know.

During this research, I also read that the character meals at H&V are better than the dinner menu (which folks seem to agree is not the best choice).

At H&V, your DD will be able to meet the characters as they come around to the tables and there is group dancing too!

Sofia's line for her meet and greet is fairly long all day long.

Not sure if you are going on a SWW when the fireworks are scheduled at 9:45. If you are, by going to the first Fant, you may not have a good view of the fireworks after you get out of the show. If it isn't SWW, then you could just walk into the amphitheater 45 minutes - 1 hour before the show starts and sit in the standby section. I would cancel the Fant dinner package and let your kids enjoy a breakfast with Sofia, Doc, Jake and Handy Manny.

DH was also leaning towards the cancel Fantasmic dining option also. We are not going for the food really (no offense intended) but just for the passes. Overall I think keeping H&V would be the best choice for the kids (and that's what it's all about right :) ). I do wonder about the participation part so if anyone has any info on that, it would be great! We have an 8:25 ressie so I know there will be people before us, so I assume that they do it every so often during the morning?

we've only done h & V for lunch (and the food was very good for a buffet). they had a fun dance party and the characters held hands with my kids and they danced and sang to their theme songs. my kids loved it!

We've done H&V for breakfast and lunch, and both times my kids loved it. They enjoyed the dance parties with the characters as much as meeting each one when they visited our table.
While there last October, we waited in the Sofia M&G line - it was about 50 minutes and the interaction was brief (as they were trying to move people through as quickly as possible).
I would recommend the H&V character dining - we're looking forward to doing it again when we go!

I would go to the H&V. Not only do you get to see Sophia, but also Jake and Doc. Plus there is lots of singing and dancing to keep the kids entertained and the buffet isn't half bad either. My son is entering the "terrible twos" which makes restaurant time difficult. He really can't be expected to sit quietly while we causally eat our food. (he is actually a sweet kid, but he does have his limits).

This place was great. Not only was our waiter fantastic, but the character interaction was perfectly timed - not too long and not to short. Unless something drastically changed, I would do it. Also, the DisJr. show is pretty cute.

It has been awhile since I was at H&V with my 5 yo DS (now 10), but when I was there, he had a blast dancing with the characters. We were going down this August, but had to change plans and push back to August '15. My DD will be 5 and we can't miss H&V bfast.

Thanks everyone, this was very helpful! We will ditch Fantasmic dining and keep H&V!!! Yay!
