sofa beds at SSR 1BR?

I have been reading about our new "home" on trip advisor. The sofa beds seem to be a major complaint. Just a foam pad on plywood, some are saying.
This could be a problem. I was going to get a full week in a 1 BR (packing bedding so DS could sleep on the floor) as opposed to 5 weekdays in a 2BR. But I will be having a 17 and 14 year old girl in that sofa bed. I need to know if it is really that uncomfortable? If it is I may have to either borrow (already!) or use my teacher discount at the dolphin for 2 nights.
Any opinions of the comfort of the sofa bed are welcome.

We were in The Grandstand last year right after they opened that section. According to my 11 year old son and 8 year old daughter the sofa bed was very comfortable. I remember sitting on it and thinking that it wouldn't be bad to sleep on. Hope that helps.

I slept on the sofa bed with my son when he wasn't feeling well,,,,and thought it was very comfortable..

They are "memory foam" type matresses. I thought it was comfortable enough. MUCH better than the traditional pull out sofa's with the bar that digs into your back!

It was the most comfortable sofa bed I've ever slept on. I wish all the sofabeds at DVC were that comfortable. The VWL still has the old bar in the back style of comfort and really need to be changed to these. SSR has memory foam mattresses and they are great. I wouldn't worry about a thing.

We stayed in a 2BR in December and took some relatives. Everyone wanted to be in one room so my father volunteered to take the sleeper and give my mother and aunts the second BR. He said it was fine. My GF fixed it up with some extra blankets. Just to qualify - he is retired and sleeps on the couch at their house about 12 hrs a day.:)

I slept on one for 4 nights a couple of weeks back. Was it as comfortable as my bed at home? No... But it was certainly comfortable enough. I had no complaints.

Very comfortable. They are firm, which I like. Much better than the old "metal bar in the back" types that used to be around.

The SSR sofa beds are the same make, style and mattress as the ones they are placing in AKV. My little one (now 9) also thought the AKV sleeper chair was comfortable and it is memory style too.

One of the reasons we've only stayed at VWL once, was my boys complained about the sofa beds (bar across the back) and they were 5 and 7! They really need to replace those!
We moved over to SSR and never heard a peep from them except to say it was better .

I also had my Family Reunion last June at SSR and with 9 studios no one complained about the sofa sleepers. We had plenty of adults on them then.

Yes they are memory foam and not cushy like a regular mattress, but when you are able to compare the other styles in use, we feel the memory style provides the most comfort for sitting and sleeping.

The new ones that they placed in BCV and BWV make a really stiff couch, so it just proves that although the technology is greatly improved, they are still struggling with how to provide bed-like qualities in a comfortable sofa.

Also, you can order an eggcrate from housekeeping if it is not soft enough:wizard:

My SIL slept on the SSR sleeper sofa for a week and she was in her mid-40s at the time. She said it was very comfortable.
