Soda mugs/program?

Did Disney change the soda mug program? They used to sell you the mug to be refilled at (almost) anytime/place. A friend who recently returned from her first cruise said they also/or instead would sell you a sticker for your KTTW card. Is this so?

They now also place a sticker on your room card. I didn't buy it this time, because we didn't drink much soda. When DD was thirsty, I went to the pool deck to get her juice.

Apparently because of the whole virus thing, they decided to go back to the old sticker program (they used this system before the mug system). You buy the soda program for the length of your cruise...I believe the 7-day is $35. They place a sticker on your KTTW card and when you go for soda they give it to you in disposable cup. Other posters have said that for an additional $5.00 you can purchase the mug. I still think they will serve you in disposable cups and then you pour it into your mug.

At least this is how the mug program was done on the 1/4/03 Magic when we sailed (they didn't use the stickers on that cruise).

DCL want to limit the amount of contamination and I guess by putting the mug next to the soda fountain spigot was a potential way for germs to spread.

I always thought the mugs could be a bit dirty, definately inconvenient and they won't fit in my cupholders in my car.

Thanks for the info.

Anyone can purchase the stickers....same price for all....no child prices.

I like this idea with the sticker much better. It was a pain to lug the mugs around all the time. You had to even carry them to Castaway Cay. Much easier with just the card!

Question???

If my dh and I would purchase the stickers for ourselves, would they be upset if they saw our ds's drinking our soda? They don't usualy drink soda, but what if they decided to take a drink from my cup.....would we get into trouble for him doing that?

I would personal want them to drink juice so buying them a sticker would not be worth the money for us.

Thanks,

Nah, I don't think that'd bother anyone, don't remember seeing 'pop police' when we went in Feb. ;)

I would comment that the 24 hour drink station is very nice with the new added beverages, and with the amount of beverages available onboard, the unlimited pop program really doesn't have the attraction anymore.

...just got back from the 4 night Wonder.

Soda Mug Program... they put a sticker on your KTTW card. I believe it costs $ 5 extra for the mug if you want it. If and when you use the mug, you are also required to show your KTTW card with the sticker. This is to prevent "sharing".

We had the AAA mugs. With the AAA program - you only get the mug - they would not put a sticker on our KTTW cards. We had to drag the mugs with us everywhere.

The lack of a sticker caused some confusion with a few of the new CMs. Once the new CMs noticed that we had AAA mugs (they are bright yellow, different than the DCL mugs) it was never a problem again. With the AAA program, since every member of the family gets a mug automatically, they must figure that there will be no "sharing" so you don't have to prove ownership of the mug.

so now it's $40 if you want the mug and soda for a week ?! ouch
guess i better stick to my coconut rum & pineapple juice

Does anyone know if soda is included in either the cat 1, 2, or 3 staterooms? This purchasing soda thing, for ANY cat. has got me in a tither. And we don't even drink soda! Do they do this on other cruise lines?

I have been on both Norwegian and Carnival and both charge for soda. $1 on NCL and $1.50 on CCL. I personally stick to ice tea which is free:p

Most every cruise line charges for soda...maybe not the really high end ones like Seabourn or Silver Star...but most of the rest do.

This has always been my biggest pet peeve. Cruiselines should just include soda in the cruise price, even if they had to add $25 bucks per person on the fare...at least make us think the cruise is truly all-inclusive. I can see charging extra for alcohol, but soda really should be included. That is the one part of cruising where I feel like I am being nickled and dimed.

HANS SOLO

I booked (unfortunately ) w/AAA and recived some of my Docs today however nothing about soda mugs or the Diamond Discount Card. Curious..... did you recieve anything w/ your docs or when you got on board. I have had to explain an awful lot of things to my TA re Disney Cruise Line So needless to say she was clueless when I inquired...........

We were on the Feb. 27 Wonder cruise & soda is free at dinner , so next time I won't bother to buy the soda refill thing. You can bring your own on board if you want & fruit punch & iced tea are free. Soda once a day is probably enough anyway. If you're a big soda drinker it's probably worth it. I think I only used mine twice & the kids were happy with the fruit punch. We bought a couple of mugs for souveniers ( I think they were 3 or 5 Dollars a piece). :bounce:

Hi Bigtime

Sorry you're having trouble with AAA but I'm sure it is the exception and not the rule. Our AAA agent has been wonderful and has return all calls and emails with answers for our many questions.

As for your docs, if you have more than one person in your party, you need to go to the docs with the lead name on your reservation. In the lead name's docs, go to the 2 luggage tags. On the second page after the luggage tags you should find a page that has "AAA DISNEY CRUISE LINE DIAMOND CARD" in the upper right hand corner under the Guest Name. If you don't find the page, go through all the remaining docs in your party and check to see if the page was placed in another person in your group. If you don't find it in any of your party's docs, get it touch with your agent or your agent's manager to get this resolved before you board.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Hans Solo

For the quick reply
Unfortunately I AM the lead person and the TA lost my docs!!

DCL to the rescue! they are overnighting new ones and I should?? have them tomorrow so I will check. Looked at all other docs and no Diamond card?? What about the mug program? Should I have that in my docs too or do a ask Guest Services??? once on board?

Thanks for your help
Did you enjoy your cruise??

DEE:) :D

Auntie Bon, I'm with you!!
But I am not a fan of iced tea out of the tap, so I make my own iced tea at the drink station by making hot tea and icing it down. They have regular tea and some excellent flavors. My favorites are black currant and mint. I do the same at dinner (and when we have really good servers, they prepare it for me...otherwise, I whip it up myself at the table :D ).
