Socks?

Why is it that mens socks get more holes than womens? Are mens socks just not made as well? Are mens shoes not better equipped to handle keeping socks from gettings holes? Do men just poke holes in their socks to make women ask this question and then laugh maniacally when we do?

Chris did the laundry last week and for some reason washed, dried, folded and put away at least 10 pairs of socks with holes in them. So this week I am doing the laundry and have decided that I am going to go through every pair of socks in this place and toss out the hole filled ones.

I noticed, that none of mine had holes. A lot of his did.

He's not in any sports or anything, we walk about the same amount each day. In fact, the socks in question are just your run of the mill, white cotton socks.

I just don't get it.

thinking about it.. my DH does get a lot of holes in his socks. My daughters nor I ever do.. unless one of the dogs chewed one in.

Good question. I wonder if anyone has an answer.

I've decided that men are very tough on their socks and their shoes. DH's socks get holes quick and his sneakers wear out in a couple months! What do they do - walk hard??? :p

It's one of those imponderables. DH is the same way with his socks. I never get holes. I also would like to know why men get "skid" marks and women don't? Are we just better about personal hygiene?

:earseek:

I have noticed this as well. I do the laundry, so I just rip up the socks with holes and throw them away. Given, they are never mine, always Dustin's. Also, his boxers seem to get holes in them quite easily as well. Who knows what these men do to their socks and underwear. It's a mystery to me!

Maybe they need to file down those claws! Can't think of a reason on the holes on their underwear...can't file down anything down there!

I agree with you there. After analizing (sp? ) a bit, I've noticed that my oldest DS (7) gets the holey socks while youngest DS (4) does not. My oldest DS is much more active and "wild" so I believe the holes are created by very tough men in their socks.. :teeth:  LOL

the washer also eats more mens socks than womens. My DD and I usually have all of our socks when I fold and put away laundry, but I will usually have a few stray guy socks (and yes they also get holes faster).

I've noticed the exact opposite. I think men's sock are made much better than women's. Thinking about this though, it is the user of the sock that is the problem :p I've got men's socks that have never gotten holes. DH's are always have holes and stay dirty!

I think part of it is that some boys/guys wear their socks outside without slippers/shoes. DH will run out to lock his truck or run to get something in the garage without putting them out. DS is infamous for going out on the deck to play with just his socks on. I won't touch the skivvy issue!!!
