Socks, sunglasses, tank tops & dresses question?

Hi I have a few wardrobe questions and decided to loop them into one thread.

Socks-I usually wear sneakers and was thinking maybe I should invest in better socks for my trip. For those that wear sneakers can you recommend a good pair? Do you get moisture wicking, arch support, something for runners maybe?

Sunglasses-I have a lot of issues with glare so with the Florida sun I except to wear my sunglasses constantly. I don't wear glasses so I typically get a cheap pair from Target or Kohls. They tend to hurt the back of my ears or just bother me after a few hours. Does anyone know of a good pair that are comfortable? Should I invest in a more expensive pair?

Tank tops- We are headed down in August with DD10, DD6. Do you usually have the kids wear tank tops in the park or something with a sleeve because they are going in and out of the air conditioning. Just wondering what has worked out best.

Dresses-I've seen on a few threads and blogs that people wear dresses because they are more comfortable. Has anyone found this to be true? Also wear to you find dresses that are casual and not too clingy?

thanks!

I run, so all I have are wicking socks. They are awesome and amazing and I kick myself for the YEARS I refused to do anything but cotton. Oh the blisters I endured! Wicking socks all the way.

Get shoes with support.

I have worn dresses and will again. Mistakes were made in the past, but going forward I would wear my comfy material "yoga" dresses with wicking underclothes underneath. Wicking AND modesty-preserving (so maybe a running short) because some rides are awkwards to get into and out of, and sometimes wind happens! :)

Good sunglasses are good.

DS tends to wear shirts with sleeves.

We've gone in August the past few years, and all I can say is, wicking!

Last year I brought three Vera Bradley sarongs (purchased at 50% off) and wore them as skirts -- I just tied them at my side of my waist. Best decision. I wore wicking bike shorts underneath, so there wouldn't be any problem getting on/off rides. I stayed cool and comfortable, and they weren't at all clingy. I'd imagine sundresses would be the same. I wore Under Armour t-shirts with them. Oh, I also wore wicking underwear.

So for those of you wearing dresses - which I would love to do...I'm curious where you keep your money or cell phone. I guess I could let DH keep it in the backpack, but I hate having everything in one place in case of a loss.

Wear something you're comfortable walking in. Buddy of mine though his good running shoes would be great even though he doesn't normally "walk" in them. Got blisters. Changed to some LESS supportive shoes he wears a lot and was fine.

Don't worry about getting cold in AC in August. Dress for the heat!

I wear keens just because they are comfy for me and I may get wet.

My girls normally wear tank tops and quick drying shirts. My my son will wear t-shirts and shorts. I wouldn't let him wear sneakers because he likes water. All 3 of my kids were soaked from storybook circus, I mean dripping soaked! I on the other hand was soaked on kali.

Like the pp said, wear what you are comfy in. I wear sneakers but in the summer I just wear keens. My kids wore flip flops around the park on some days and were fine because they wear them at home.

When we went in August I had posted about dresses and someone pointed out the chaffing issue, so definitely something for underneath!

Just take a stick of 'Bodyglide' with you (or similar) - works great!

Works great on feet too - don't wait for blisters! For that matter, it works great anywhere you may have a chaffing issue.

The compression shorts I wore underneath really helped with chafing. But I also swear by Bodyglide. I always carry a Bodyglide stick in my park bag. (I keep a separate stick for my feet.)

I have smallish ears that don't stick out at all (almost totally flat to my head) and I have a wire that runs under my scalp behind one ear. The combination makes me VERY sensitive to glasses.

I have found that it isn't necessarily price but style that makes the biggest difference: I look for an arm that doesn't have too much curve either down or in once it passes the ear. Also a frame that is slightly too wide for my face.

Hope this helps!

I wear these kind of dresses...

With these kind of shorts...actually usually a little longer..underneath to prevent chafing and for modesty

Sunglasses...always have to have...Usually one pair on my head and one on my face-can't go without. I tend to lose them and don't have an issue with them hurting so I buy the cheapies.

I don't do socks as I don't want to wear shoes that stay wet. I wear Teva Mush, Yellow Box flip flops, and Keens.

I wear skirts every day, to WDW and elsewhere. I find that ones made from natural materials that go down just past my knees are best for hot weather. My favorite ones are cotton/linen blends from Christopher & Banks. They're long enough that I don't need to wear anything under them but short enough and twirly enough to breathe.
