remember all I am a grandma and kaitlynn has been a great player the last few years.......this summer she is on the high school summer soccer team....it is like they get them ready for fall .......she is good ....agressive and THIS SCARES THE POOP out of me.......one girl on her team is a senior and she is on her way to the hospital......the other team in the last 18 seconds got four on one girl and she is out for the next season......very very good player too......kaitlynn is hoping just to be a freshman player ........she has new shin pads.....she got a cleat in it last week and she is a good color on her leg.......it is almost green tonight.....so .....I am not sure if I want to go to the games....to much for this old soul:p

I am still on pins and needles....hahaha.....feels funny actually

I feel for you about soccer.

My 12 y/o nephew went from the frying pan into the fire. He went from getting banged up in soccer, he was a good player, to now playing ice hockey.

He's actually looking forward to all the checking they do....but I don't know if I am.

At least I won't get a sunburn, just maybe frostbite.

most of the time anyways......we would have frost bite for sure.......ice hockey has a good amount of clothes.....and equipment......

kaitlynn is moving right along - hmmmm are there any soceer scholarships out there

DD's pediatrician has told me that in her experience, soccer is the most dangerous in terms of injuries to the middle and high school age athletes she sees, particularly the girls. Mostly legs/knees/ankles as you might expect, but also the head. DD as a goalkeeper had a couple of concussions, and the doctor had me thinking about how how vulnerable the keepers are in soccer........I mean, in most other sports like hockey and lacrosse and field hockey...and even the catcher in soft/baseball---they are protected by more/different equipment than the other players. In soccer the only difference is the keeper wears gloves, but no head or body protection.
Agressive is good if it's clean, fair play --and accidents can and do happen ...but I'm not impressed with the officiating I've seen in school and independent league play around here. Hope it's better in Maine! OK, I'll get off my soapbox now ;) And in spite of it all, I'll miss watching the girls play, DD has decided not to try out next year as a senior.
So, enjoy Kaitlynn's games pumba :teeth:

I agree...they keep telling me "the refs are learning too" but I have seen some outrageous stuff go on. While they are learning kids are getting hurt.

were calling all calls ......which I heard from a PARENT near by us that he was very good and does not let any team or player get away with anything........it is a scarey sport.....hope that all the kids playing are safe this season.....
