Soarn' and a just turned 4 yr old

Hey guys.

Here is my question. My dd loves rides. This past January she was 3 yrs and 3 months old. She rode Goofy's Barn Stormer with her daddy and loved it. She wanted to ride Splash mountain---Was so glad is was closed. I did not think she was old enough. Dh and myself rode Soarn' and love it. Just curious if anyone has let their 3 1/2 or just turned 4 yr old ride it and if they liked / disliked it. I want to take her on it, but with the few children who have lost their lives on the rides MS and RRC I am terrified to let her ride bigger rides? She does not have any medical conditions, but you never know what ones body can tollerate. I would never let her do MS, TOT, RRC, or anything that is a big thrill ride at this age, but is Soarn' a thrill ride.

I am a chicken and wont ride anything except Soarn' and the kiddie rides, I think it would be ok, but what has been your alls experiences?

We took DD 3 on Soarin' and she loved it! We also took her on ToT because she begged. Anything Big DD wants to do she follows! The ToT was done behind my back though! It was DH who took her... then he took her again, again, and once again to get it out of her system.

My niece is 3.5 and she rode Soarin last week. She loved it. She thought she was flying, of course. She has also ridden Splash Mt and liked that too.

My daughter is 4 and has ridden Splash Mt, Big Thunder, Test Track, loves Barnstormer too. They would not let her ride Soarin (said she wasn't tall enough) although Test Track said she was tall enough (40 inches). Depends on the CM I guess.

Anyway my daughter loves it all!

IMHO, Soarin is not really much of a thrill ride. If she liked Barnstormer, I think she would love and be fine on Soarin.

my kids have almost NO interest in anything that seems remotely frightening (too big, too fast, too loud, too dark, etc.)...i probably have the only 3 1/2 y. o. that refuses to go on the winnie the pooh ride!!! BUT, they did do soarin' (and loved it!) on our trip in may. i took my girls first (because they aren't quite as sensitive as my son) and before we got on, i talked and talked and talked about what they would see, hear and feel... told them they were strapped in and very safe in their seatbelts, blah blah blah. i reminded them repeatedly that this was just like the big porch swing at their granparents' house and they could close their eyes whenever they wanted and all they would feel is the swing. my dh took my son after we saw that the girls enjoyed it, and he loved it, too.

My DD, almost 4, loved Soarin! She still lists it as one of her favorite rides on our trip. She keeps telling me that we didn't watch a movie; we were in it! Very good experience for her. I actually think it is more gentle than some of the kiddie rides (Barnstormer). The ride does have a strap to pull up and secure small ones; it adds a little more safety to it. Have fun!

I can understand your fear about letting her ride the "bigger" rides like M:S, ToT, RnRC, but IMO Saorin' is such a gentle ride. As long as you think she will remain seated for the whole ride and not try to "escape" her seat for some reason then you shouldn't have anything to worry about. There's a retractable seat belt and for the little ones, a belt loop that goes between the legs to make it a 3-pt type restraint so they can't just slide out from under it. It's a really gentle ride though and even if she had health concerns like those poor children who have died on M:S and RnRC I don't think that would be a concern on this particular ride. Jmo.

Btw, I hope that when my ds is tall enough to ride Soarin' that he's mature enough for me to trust him to stay seated, lol. I know he will love it but my concern is that he'll try to get out of his seat, which scares the bejeebers out of me. So until I can trust him he's not going, lol. Right now he's 39" without his shoes on and at just barely turned three, I just don't think he's quite ready yet.

Soarin' is very gentle...I rode it pregnant in December. My 2nd son was 3.5 the first time he rode it-he liked it.

I was planning on letting DS3 (almost 4) ride Soarin' but someone mentioned that its like a swing... is that right? DS loves speed and all that jazz but absolutely HATES swings. Even as a baby, we had to return his baby swing and now, he'll only get on a swing if he's lying on his stomach. Loves the slide, etc but won't go on a swing. If we get in and its like a swing, he's going to FREAK. What do you suggest?

The ride does not really feel like a swing, in that it doesn't move back and forth in a swinging motion. What I think poster meant was to tell kids, that it would feel like a swing becauce your feet hang over the ride (like a ski lift). I think it will be fine.

My 3 (almost four) year old road Soarin twice and loved it. It was a very gentle ride and you can even put your arm around her if you sit next to her. Dd3 (almost 4) also rode Splash about 6 times and BTMRR. Both rides were more about theming than "toss you about" thrills. I won't let her do Mission:Space, RNRRC ever!! She did TOT (after her little friend had done it) and hated it. It was a mistake to let her go on it....she was too young!

My youngest was 3 1/2 on our trip last year and he LOVED Soarin. Of course he is a little daredevil. Splash became his favorite ride just before he turned 3. He was EXACTLY 40" so he was able to ride some "big boy rides" (Splash, Thunder and Test Track on that particular trip). He would get so excited if they made him stand under the bar because then he knew that it was going to be "a good one." LOL

I understand your hesitation on the big thrill rides though. My kids have not been allowed to ride Mission Space even though both were tall enough. This was the case before the deaths, I just felt it was too intense for their age. RnR and Tower of Terror have been out for our oldest for the same reason...too much G-force. The boys have informed me they are riding ToT on the next trip though, but they'll be almost 7 and 5 by then so I'm OK with that. I wouldn't worry with Soarin though.

My daughter has been a thrill ride seeker since she was old enough to figure out what theme park rides were. She used to go on rides at age 3&4 that scared me half to death! But that is her personality and she loves it.

Now my son is another story. Now age 7 & refuses to ride Splash Mt. or any other big rides. I actually drug him screaming onto It's a Small World last year (yes, I'm one of those parents!). He seen the boats and they disappeared around a dark corner and he just knew something bad was going to happen! He didn't relax until the ride was almost completely over. We still laugh about the scary Small World ride!!

I think it's more of an individual thing. Some kids love the scary rides, others hate them. You can only hold the daredevil kids back so long. My husband finally had to talk to me and say if she's tall enough to ride on this safely, let her go. So yes, I reluctantly cut the apron strings and let her experience life and thrill rides!

My grandson who is autistic at 2 yrs 11 months rode Soaring and loved it so much that they had to ride again. He went on it again this pastmay and absolutley loved it. it s a very gentle ride. i love it because due to an inner ear issue i cannot ride any of the roller coasters and this was wonderful. Have fun!

We just went to WDW in June and my just turned 4 year old loved soarin. She has talked about that ride the most , it was her favorite Hope you guys have a wonderful trip!! We are going back for Christmas and I cant wait!!

My son will be 2 and 10 months when we go in November and I really hope he enjoys it. He did not like the barnstormer last year but he was only 19 months old.... he was toooo overtired at the time we put him on that and maybe just too young, just tall. We are hoping he will be tall enough for all the 40 inch rides by November, he is only 2 inches shy right now but his doc said with his groth history he should make it....

I would try it! Just never try new things if they are already done for the day emotionaly

My DS was 3.5 when we went in March and was scared of most rides, but I did manage to get him on Soarin' and he loved it!!! It really is a really gentle ride. Definitely recommend it.
