That's the rumor. They have definitely done work on a new film and will be transitioning to it at some point, though they have not announced a date for this yet. It seems likely that it could launch when it comes off the extended refurb, but it is unknown. Part of the refurb is to install digital projectors, certainly in anticipation of the new film.

Soarin' at DLR has already switched to digital projectors and does not have the need to build a 3rd theater and rearrange the queue (the demand isn't nearly as high as the WDW version), which is the extensive part of the refurb. When the new movie hits DLR it will likely take very little downtime to make the switch. It is running normally for now.

Thats how I felt last summer when POTC was down. I was so sad! Love that ride.

Rumor had it that the new film was being held back and wasn't going to be shown until after it made its showing in China. However, due to the delays in the China project the new rumor is that it will be in the new opening here in the states.

I'm heartbroken. DD has been using Soarin' as her figure skating competition music for the last year and it will be closed when we visit in Feb. So sad.

I'm with you on that!! Our visit is that week also, and if it were up to me, we would cancel. Found out that there are several rides down that week including another favorite - Buzz Lightyear - not to mention all the construction going on everywhere. Also, Sunshine Seasons breakfast not serving - love, love the berry croissant bread pudding. Hope I can talk DH into calling it off - last chance to use our AP's, but whatever............

I cannot remember which website it was, but one of the unofficial WDW sites had it re-opening the first week of June. However many other sites are saying it will be six months +. We sure are hoping for an early June date, but I am afraid it may not be until sometime in July.

Ironically, the line will probably be exactly the same wait times for at least the opening, due to the new interest
