Hi there folks i would like to know if there is any height involved in the soarin ride? i know its a simulator but is there a climb involved in getting to or onto the ride? my wife doesnt like genuine heights, she ok with the simulator side of it. Thanks for any help. take it easy. :cool1:

Alright, you'll have to bear with me cos this a bit tricky to describe.

Inside the big room i think there were 3 hang gliders each with 3 rows of seating. As you 'board' you simply have to take a seat and at this point your feet should still touch the floor (bit small= swinging legs). Then as the ride begins the three rows lift up in sort of an arc movement, i think the front goes up the highest and back the least amount (please correct me if i'm wrong- it's worth asking a cm if you could sit in the row with the least height increase).

Once in the air there is very little actual simulator-like bouncy movement, it's a very smooth ride and fine for my dad who suffers terribly on sim rides. Then at the end the rows return back to the place you 'took off'.

I would say it's tricky to see how high up you are anyway as the screen is so large and everywhere else is dark so it would be difficult not to focus on the ride and stunning film.

Hope this was helpful :thumbsup2

well described! thats pretty much it - the only downside fo being in the lowest seating is that other peoples feet dangle down a bit and you don't really get the full 'hang gliding' feeling as you can see them above you - ride it once on the third bench (the lowest) then see if you can persuade her to go for the next one up until you're in the top one - its probably only about 30 feet off the ground but a much better ride experience

The best tip for Soarin' - either ride it first thing or get a fastpass, as it's very very popular.

The top row would definitely be too high if your wife does not like heights. When you take off there is a quite a feeling of going up.

I tried working out how high you are on the top row once (I'm a bit of anorak), and I reckon your are about 40ft.
