Soarin @ WDW picture quality

We were so disappointed when we went on this ride. We have been going to DCA since it opened and the film, queue and ride is amazing! The one in WDW is terrible right from the beginning the queue is boring and ugly!!! the screen quality was so far below Disney standards I can't believe it has been allowed to be there. I also think soar'n over CA played in Florida is stupid too. Good grief Disney has plenty of money to have made another movie for this park and state. I can't believe the lines for this ride still. I would not waste a fast pass on this for anything.
Now got to DCA and see what the ride should be!
Whats interesting is DCA will get a refurb on their Soarin before WDW gets one. I think WDW has Soarin over California because most people that go to WDW will not go to DCA to see the same thing. The DLR is local heavy as you probably know and WDW is mostly new guests or guests that don't come very often.

So, interesting facts most people don't realize. These are facts, not rumors.

1) The "screen" is made of perforated metal. It doesn't deteriorate.

2) The print of the film is changed out every few months for a new one.

Now a rumor: I hear that the reason the Florida print is usually in worse shape is the humidity levels in Florida damage the film quicker.

Personally, I think it's just that people didn't used to have HDTV in their house, and now that they are accustomed to it, they expect Soarin' to be "above and beyond". But at that size it's not even as good as 1080p

I agree but I didn't have a bad experience I thought it was fine when I went. It is good hearing it will be getting updated in the next couple years tho.

I agree about the pp about the quality so I was looking carefully when we went in February and I was impressed that the quality seemed better than it had the past few times we went. It was definitely better than what I saw in December. Maybe they had just cleaned the projector or put in a new print.

DL definitely needs their refurb first. Just rode Soarin' there a couple of weeks ago and the dust (or whatever it was) came out in splats; yes I said splats across the left side of the screen. It would go away and then a few seconds later would splat again from the lower to the middle part of the screen. I was sitting on the right side toward the top and it was so distracting but at least it wasn't splatting right in my face like those poor people on the lower left side.

Hopefully this is part of the reason they are making the change. The beauty of digital vs film is they could change the movie every show or even change individual scenes and have a random experience like they do with Star Tours.

I really hope this is the direction they eventually go, as much as I love Soarin over California I'd love to see multiple movies.

Agree. But they can't be too long. The lines for Soarin are huge and the wait usually very long. If they make the movie any longer, it'll just mean more lines and longer waits. Which is why if they make a new movie (or movies) they have to be selective as to how many places they might "soar" over:)

My daughter and I were just talking about this on our trip to WDW last week. Soarin was the first ride we did and we both noticed right away the particles were there in the same exact place they were last year.

We finally spent some great time in World Showcase. The movie in France is MUCH better. The only difference is you are not in the fancy chairs and you did not have to wait forever to see it!
