We decided to get some dinner at Sunshine Seasons tonight around 7:30 and noticed that Soarin was closed. We asked a cm and he said it had been down since around 12:30pm and was not expected to reopen today.

I saw that on Lines today and was wondering if it was accurate.

Interesting..thanks for the update. With TT being closed I hope that this doesn't happen often!!!

We were in Epcot tonight and I was surprised when a family at Teppan Edo told me about it being down all day. The park was very uncrowded...but with no Soarin or Test Track I'm assuming everyone left!

Soarin closed about 10:30 today and did not reopen. We were told by a CM that there was a safety issue, there was an emergency meeting about it and all the cast members had to be trained. Not really sure what the problem was and that is all the CM would tell us. I was just reading that Soarin was closed in California today too. The park was really empty but it was a bummer that Soarin and Test Track were both closed.

Just returned from Illuminations. Got to the park around 2pm and went straight to the World Showcase but did notice Soarin' was down on my way through and it was still down when we left. I can't speak to the park being empty. I found the World Showcase pretty busy. However it got steadily busier all evening. Not packed.. but busy.

Interesting. Interesting there's so little chatter about it on the boards too. Usually a ride being down for the whole day--esepcially when the same ride is closed on both coasts--would generate pages of speculation and angst. Another board has information that it's a seatbelt issue and the belts are all being replaced. Might not be true, always hard to verify. Hope it's back up soon since it's one of my favorite rides.

ETA: Info from another board says one or two people got out of the restraints before the ride started and were standing in the corner while the ride was in motion. No one was at Soarin' today when they shut down the ride and shuttered it? Amazing. There's always someone on the board, it seems like, for nearly every incident that happens in the park!

Yes I heard about it earlier today too and waited all day for something to pop up on the boards. My source is pretty good and I was beginning to doubt it was really closed due to the fact that no one had said a thing...but then again I knew she knew!

I wonder why they'd suddenly shut them both down.

Did someone jump out?

Read elsewhere that two guest got out of their seatbelts without unfastening them and were standing to the side watching the show. CM's have to be retrained on how to prevent this in the future.

"PLEASE KEEP YOUR BUTTS INSIDE THE VEHICLE".

Heard on WDW Magic that a couple of idiots climbed out and were on the ground while the ride was in motion. Can you imagine if those carriages came down on one of them. So they apparently need a better imprisonment I mean safety system to keep guests from climbing out. Toddlers & Theme Park Rides... a new reality series.

~OMG! What in "the world" is wrong with some people!?! Someone could have gotten hurt, if not worse! I don't know what else the CM's could have done in this situation. I hope no one got in trouble because others foolish and reckless behavior. They were probably going to post how to do this on Youtube or something! Thanks for the update. :goodvibes

Wow, thanks for the heads up! We'll be in Epcot today. It's a third day in that park this trip, so I won't be too upset, but at least I may not be making my morning run :)

Yikes!! Why on earth would anyone exit the seat?! Crazy..............This is the reason why lap bars were placed on Splash Mountain logs. :sad2:

It's a shame for those at Epcot today that both of the big headliners were down.

They probably chickened out and thought they could leave before it started but maybe the doors would not open. A friend just told me they sometimes allow handicapped people who cannot ride to sit off to the side to watch it.

^No one is allowed inside the theatre while the flight is in the air except for the Tower Cast Member who is monitoring the ride via the cage on the left or right side. The 2 guests wiggled their way out of the belts (which cannot be undone once buckled). Expect a redesigning of the center strap so everyone has to use it now.

One of of the things I've noticed at Disney, and it becomes worse and worse each time, is how stupid and selfish people are. This is just another example.

These guests had no common sense whatsoever. Wiggle out of the seatbelt and stand in the theatre. What complete morons.

Watch Soarin' get shoulder harnesses now. It's like what happened to Splash Mountain with the lap bar.

Idiots.

What amazingly stupid people. We leave for WDW on Monday and our first day in Epcot is Tuesday. I just hope that Soarin' will be back up soon enough for them to have at least ONE headliner running at Epcot!
