Soarin' SB+ test...Fail

I wonder how those who basically just show up will react? Many of them will get their 3 FP+ but then how will they handle their days beyond that? My DH who is not a themepark fan to begin with might just explore with annoyance over all of this. :rolleyesd

That's the really interesting thing about you bring up.

With MB's and RFID's, they could implement any methodology that combines FP+ and SB+.

They most likely would limit how many SB+ you could hold at one time.

But, they could also limit how many times you actually rode a particular headliner during the 10am to 6pm sweet spot.

If you think about it, the guests who had early FP+ reservations for a TSMM. Soarin', A&E, etc., would be the ones best situated to grab an SB+ as they got off of the ride. That's not what they would want.

It's why SB+ almost has me more concerned than FP+ (emphasis on almost).

Why? Because it potentially gives them total control over who rides which headliners when, as well as how many times during the busiest part of the day.

Again, hypothetical, but that's what total control does - it tempts you to use it....

WDW has been far more concerned with the building up of their DVC accommodations (as well as standard hotel rooms), versus attractions. They want more heads in beds, and have given very, VERY little thought of what to do with them all once they are there (other than, of course, these highly manipulative games they are playing). And so far, the masses have shown that they will not only tolerate these messes.....but even go so far as to be willing to pay significant amounts of money (as well as time) to be guinea pigs in WDW's mess-testing(s).

All these messes are simply their shell-game attempts at moving larger number through their parks without any real new offerings to give the added masses.

Very often.... quality and quantity have an inversely relative relationship.

DVC is its own profit center, and DVC rolls up to the Cruise and ABD division. WDW does love the DVC money than DL does.

I've seen virtually no discussion over SB+ limits! That's a good point.

It seems confusing to me if both systems are implemented. If SB+ becomes the norm will we still be able to get the 4th and 5th and so on FP+? And how does one plan for both of those and ADR's? You won't know availability ahead of time so planning could be a big challenge.

Good points on the SB+ limits.

I think, if they are really doing something with the standby lines, it eventually all ends up in MDE. I just can't get my head around just handing out tickets freely, it seems like the exact opposite of why they built this monster.

You and clsteve are making my head hurt! :headache:

I missed the whole sing-a-long a few pages back :sad2: but have the perfect song for mom2rtk's broadway theme and how many of us feel about FP+ & SB+. Better late than never. :thumbsup2

Memory, all alone in the moonlight
I can dream of the old days
Life was beautiful then
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again

Understood. But that doesn't change the fact that WDW is building many more on-site accommodations (DVC and otherwise....AOA, BLT, etc.), without the attraction increases to diffuse the crowds (other than the Fantasyland expansion and the in-progress Avatar work).

The beds have (at this point) greatly outpaced the attraction offerings.

And, consequently, ludicrous steps have been and are being taken to try and manage that increased traffic.

That can be the "haters" theme song. So perfectly fitting!

How about a little nostalgia? This was a Disney song on a past attraction. Did Disney actually feel this way at one time?

It's fun to be free
To be on the move
You go where you please
With comfort and ease to
See all there is to be seen
It's fun to be free

According to DH, a mathematician, the ideas of "polling" and fairness have been really hot topics with cutting edge math research recently... "polling" in this use would essentially be the same as queueing. It pretty much equals a bunch of brand new research about how to build line rides to be the most fair for the most users. It is not that direct and is being published by groups with no direct mention of this specific use, but it *just happens* to be popping up a lot right now.

I wish there was a standard (as there is for other research studies) of getting informed consent from participants beforehand. As in maybe they could have selected any number of individuals & asked if they would mind being included in a test. Or they could have simply announced and explained things so it wasn't a shock to guests the day of test.

If it is what you are suggesting, mathematicians are not out doing tests on people. They just run number models. Math research isn't hands-on. It involves computers and people standing around a white board.

Ahhh, World of Motion how I miss you. I love the old Epcot soundtracks. Universe of Energy was a great soundtrack before it changed with Ellen.

Tomorrow...tomorrow...there's always tomorrow.....;) (just to keep with our sing-a-long theme)

AWESOME! I knew we'd eventually make it to the showtunes! :dance3:

"They closed Soarin' and I fly out tomorrow!"

Wait. One. Second. They closed the STANDBY line without warning?? Did I read that right?? I must have misunderstood something, right?! I know I have a headache after trying to plan 10 days of FP+... so I'm assuming I misunderstood some critical detail...
