Is there anything more specific than the current "reopening summer 2016" information. We are there the middle of May, any chance for a "cold opening" at that time.

Nope.
Summer is in late May so it's possible but I'm going with unlikely in Mid-May.
We were at MK Dec14 shortly before HM was scheduled to reopen. It had an opening date. We did manage to ride it the day before that, on a soft opening. It went up and down often that day (as expected) but that was the first day they had it open. 2 weeks prior it was not
