What are the seats like? Basically I am wondering about the restraint system. Would it keep DD6 in place if she got restless? How about DS5 who needs to be supported to sit? Karen

There is a seat belt and the white loop is a strap that the seat belt can be threaded thru for greater security. It is mandatory for kids who don't come past a mark on the back of the seat, but anyone can use it for extra security.

Thanks Sue - I just want to add that there is almost no side to side support, so you would have to reach over from the next seat for that...

The seat belts are ratcheted and cannot be loosened or unlocked once the seats are undocked. And since the belt will be threaded through the loop for a child and tight around the hips, they cannot get out of the seat.

As was mentioned, once the seat belt is fastened, it locks in place. The CMs working on the floor can see a light for each belt, so they can see if one is not properly locked. The ride can't be started until all belts are locked.
The seat belts are not released until the ride is over.
Make sure it is tight when you are fastening it and it will hold securely.

During the ride, the seats are tilted back slightly, sort of like sitting in a lawn chair. That backward tilt helps people to stay in place also. The ride motions are very gentle, nothing fast or jerky. The ride car does tilt and move during the ride, but it's slow and nothing extreme since it is simulating being in a hang glider riding on air currents.

The seats are close enough together that you will be able to reach a child sitting next to you. If you have enough adults in your party, it would work best to have the children between 2 adults from your party.
If you are not sure if the ride will work, you could ask the CM at the entrance whether it would be possible for one of your party to ride and get an idea about whether it would work.

OP, DH and I use that loop to put the seatbelt through all the time. It helps to secure you. I am 5'6", DH is 6'0", and we both weigh under 160 lbs. When DH sits in the seats, his head comes up higher than the arrow indicated in the picture, but mine doesn't. I must be REALLY short waisted or something. Anyway, we both use the loop to put the seatbelt through- for us, it doesn't feel very secure if we don't. You are sort of 'tipped back', so sitting up in the seat probably won't be too much of a problem, but like other posters have said, there is no side support.

just a quick warning though - there is nothing in front of you during the ride, and nothing to hold onto other than those side handles built into the seat. If you are seated in the front row when ride starts you will be in the top row during the movie. You could search, but it's about 30feet off the ground. I personally am a LOT terrified on the ride and I wouldn't be able to take a wiggly 5 year old onto it. But that's just me. I know most people LOVE the ride. Just know that if your 5 year old non-supported child starts to wiggle there isn't much holding her in place..other than a lap belt...

There is a height restriction, too. As long as your child is tall enough, he should be OK. I HATE heights, but I LOVE that ride!

You don't want to know how high off the ground you are.
If you are concerned about heights, you want to be in the last row. That one goes off the ground the least (but still quite a ways).
