Soarin' Question

Is it possible to experience Soarin' w/o going up in the benches?

(I have an autistic son who will DEFINITELY freak out if he cannot sit on my lap, but I really think he will dig Soarin')

Sorry no. The best you could do as far as the height you go up is to sit in the 3rd row. These seats go up the least. But he can't sit in your lap. Sorry.

For what it's worth, the armrests between seats are very low. My DD4 sat between my sister and I. I was able to lean over and put my arms around her to keep her feeling a bit more stable. They WOULD NOT allow her to sit cross-legged though (I always tell her to "criss-cross applesauce" whenever the seat is big enough to keep her from swinging her legs and losing a shoe).

If it is something that you feel very strongly about, I would suggest riding it once alone to get a feel for it. Then make the determination as to whether your son would sit comfortably in a seat next to you with your arms around him.

Everyone has given' you good advise. Even in the last row to elevate into e ride if he would look down he would see that he is way above the ground. blackjackdelta came up with a very good idea. Show him the video then explain that the ride rises. Maybe holding his hand will be enough of a comfort to him. This ride is so awesome. I took my Mom at the time was 72 on this ride expecting her to say no. She has a fear of heights. After the ride she said it was the best experience of her life...oh, and can we do it again. tink:

I do know how low the armrests are. That is actually not a good thing because he will think it is easier for him to crawl over. And then feeling the restraint will set him over ledge (literally if he can wiggle out of his belt).

I am going with my mom who is TERRIFIED of heights and was scared the entire first time we went. The second time she rode she closed her eyes and really enjoyed it.

I think we will see how it goes on the plane down and go from there. Thanks again.
