SOARIN' question

when we went to Universal in 1993 (wow that was a long time ago) my dh (boyfriend at that time) got naseated on the rides there, like Back to the Future. So we have never been back there, lol. I am wondering in Soarin' is the same type of ride. Will he feel sick from it?

Hi there-

Similar to your boyfriend, I get nauseated on motion simulated rides, too. I don't have a problem with Soarin', though. I believe it's because your chair moves slightly, but not the room. I can look at the walls or the floor and see they are stationary. Also, the movements are not jerky or rough.

My DW gets motion sickness very easily. Does not like the Back to the future ride, or Star Tours at MGM. But she loved Soarin. We did it a few times and she felt fine after each ride.

i've heard a very small percentage of people getting 'motion sickness' from soarin.. very small. but not impossible.

in any case, it is NOTHING like Back to the Future. fortunately, very few attractions anywhere are. BTTF is pretty violent in how it tosses people around (although that's about to stop any day now).

i might avoid star tours, but soarin' should not be an issue for most people.

Is Soarin like Back to The Future?

As much as I dislike Soarin, I will say that riding Soarin is like sleeping on a Tempupedic Matress when compared to BTTF.

I can do roller coasters all day long, but motion rides are not enjoyable for me. I seriously thought I was going to get ill on BTTF and did almost throw up on Mission: Space. I don't like Star Tours either, but it doesn't make me sick.

I love Soarin. The movement is gentle and soothing. I can (and have) ridden it over and over again.

sounds exactly like my dh. He loves coasters but the motion rides make him sick, which is why I had the question about Soarin' since we have never been on it.

I get motion sickness very easily, I cannot do tea cups, carnival rides, and Star Tours and Back to the Future just makes me ill. I live in Calif. close to Disneyland, and I have done Soarin over 100 times. I love this ride! I have never felt nautious.

I cannot do Back to the Future, only tried Mission Space (thought it was great, but have no desire to do again) and can barely tolerate teacups. I though SOARIN was awesome, and would not hesitate to recommend it!!

Soarin' by far was my favorite ride this past WDW trip. I went on it three times, including twice with DS6 and DD4. It was a very smooth and peaceful ride. - Jennifer

Remember, the only basic "motion" on Soarin' is in your head! The seats only raise up and down to see the screen and move slightly as the scene changes. My DW felt dizzy and I told her to just close her eyes, BAM, away goes dizzy because your brain isn't trying to make sense of what's going on. Besides, Soarin' is the best "tame" ride going... I'm sure he'll be fine.
