Soarin' question

How are the lines for Soarin' now? We are planning on going to MGM in the morning for the Playhouse Disney breakfast and doing a couple of things there and then heading over to Epcot for the rest of the day. What I was wondering was if the fastpasses would be gone by early afternoon and if the standby lines would be really long by then. If so,we might just skip it this trip. FYI, our trip is 11/30-12/4. TIA

Well, I'm not sure about right now this very second, :rotfl: but as of 3 weeks ago lines were still well over 1 1/2 hours for the most part, as reported by my mom and sis.

when we went in March the lines were pretty bad for Soarin.. The Standby was over 1 1/2 hours.. We used Fastpass so if that is an option for you Id do that.. Once you get to Epcot, Id go straight to Soarin and get a FP if avl.. then you could do other things and go back..

Just back. Stand by lines were consistently over an hour. Fast Passes were gone in the afternoon.

If you can't make it to Epcot in the morning, you might not be able to ride. Even if FPs are available when you get there, they will likely be for very late in the day.

we waited for "an hour" in May and use that loosely because it seemed longer than that but I didn't have my watch so I don't know for sure. we'll be getting FP's when we go in December. :thumbsup2

Just back...It is busy. Even though we noticed that other lines for TT, and the other park's headliners were beginning to slow a bit, Soarin is consistently a long line. Fastpasses are gone by 2ish. The problem is that is a slow loading ride.

I agree that the stand by lines last week were always at least 75 min. no matter what time of the day. We were at EPCOT in the AM and my DH got the FP's first thing - let me tell you the entire crowd at the rope drop was running to the Land pavilion - he felt like he was in the NY marathon! Once you get to the pavilion you have to go in and downstairs - the FP machines are not outside. It is a very slow loading ride - even with our FP we still waited about 10 mins. The ride was great - definitely worth seeing!

We were there 8/15, and couldn't ride. We hopped from another park to Epcot , and by 12-12:30, FPs were gone, and everytime we checked, throughout the day, the standby wait was 2 hrs! We skipped it.
Gotta get that FP early!

Sounds like we may have to skip it this trip. For the kids, MGM is a must-do for the Playhouse Disney breakfast, show and Star Tours.

tkitty, we were also in Epcot on 8/15 and I thought it was incredibly crowded. It was the only day of our week that I felt the crush of the crowds. Anyway, we were able to ride Soarin by getting fast passes first thing in the morning. We were back there around 2 for lunch at the GG and fast passes were gone. They had CMs standing outside the land announcing that the wait was over 2 hrs. It was a great ride but I wouldn't wait 2 hours!

Here's my Soarin' dilema:

We will only be at Disney for 4 days (including arrival/departure day). The day we have planned for Epcot, my DD8 is going on the Albatross Treasure Cruise which departs at 9:30am from Bayside Marina (Yacht & Beach Club). Of course Soarin' is a top priority for both of us because we haven't been to Disney in 5 years so we've never been on it.

Epcot opens at 9am that day. I'm guessing the fastest way to the Marina is to take the bus to the front entrance at Epcot, then thru the park to the International Gateway where we will walk to the marina. Otherwise, maybe a taxi from AKL right to the marina to save time/walking.

The cruise ends at 11:30am and by the time we get to Soarin' I'm guessing the fastpasses might be gone. While she's on the cruise I was thinking of heading back into Epcot and getting passes for later.

Problems:
1) Unless DD8 enters Epcot with me first (instead of taking a taxi) I won't be able to get a fastpass for her. Will that be a problem - only 1 pass for an adult and a child?
2) If I get fastpasses for us while she's on the cruise and we don't make it back in time for the return time, will we be denied?

Thanks for any advice you can share...

If you're planning on walking through Epcot anyway, just stop and get fastpasses. It's on your way and will only take a couple of mins (hopefully! ). And if you don't, just grab a snack, and enjoy the quality time with DD in the stand by line. :thumbsup2 It's worth it!

:thumbsup2 When I was down this past Dec, we got to epcot right when the park opened and grabbed a fastpass and then went on the standby line. We waited about 20 minutes to get on and after that ride we waited for our fastpass time rode again.. When we got out of the ride the standby line was already at a 90 minutes wait and it was only about 10:30am, and fastpass distribution was already at 4:00-5:00. It got busy really quick, depending on what time you get there to get your fastpass you might get lucky and not have a problem getting them, but it seems to be a very popular attraction. :thumbsup2

Well then I think we'll arrive extra early at Epcot and be near the front gates when they open...RUN to grab the fastpass and then RUN to the marina!

Another silly question...where exactly is the fastpass machine? Do I go into The Land pavillion (where the Living with the Land ride is)? Will Soarin' be on my left or right? Maybe if I know which direction to head I can shave a couple minutes off our time!! :thumbsup2

You go inside "The Land", bear left. Take the stairs/escalator to the bottom floor. Soarin' is between "Living with the Land" and the food court area. You'll see a big sign that says "Soarin'" When you're under this sign the que area is on your left, the Fastpass distribution area is on the right. Get FP early and enjoy the ride.

You'll love Soarin'. The Soarin' music was my entrance music at my recent Disney wedding.

For frequent DIS board readers, I married "Glass Slipper".

Hope this helps!

The lines can get very long for Soarin. Over and hour most parts of the day. I recommend getting a fast pass. I was there a month ago and when we got our fass pases( dont remmeber when exactly but the return was late) it was almost an hour hour wait but when we returned it was almost two hours. Fastpass is the best choice.

Just rode it yesterday (8/29). Got a fastpass about 2:00 for a 3:05-4:05 return.

Walked over to Test Track and walked right on. Stopped and got a bite to eat and then got in line for Soarin.

Just depends on when you go.

We live here so we figured the parks would be light due to Tropical Depression Ernesto. It was cloudy and Epcot had very little traffic.
