I am planning to travel with an elderly person who also has a fear of heights. However, I still think Soarin' is too good to skip :thumbsup2 Are there seats for Soarin' that don't move or raise very high in the air? Thanks

I would say get in the last row. My grandma is totally afraid of heights and she is 74. And she loves it along with tower of terror as long as it is in the back.

:sunny:

No. There are 5 sets of chair lifts but they all raise (highest maybe 15/20 ft. - lowest maybe 5 feet).

I've never had a fear of heights until I went on Soarin' and noticed that they had no bar infront of the chair. Don't know, but for about 10 seconds I internally freaked. But, I told myself to ride the ride and enjoy the experience.

I am afraid of heights, I cannot go to the 2nd step on a ladder.

I do not like Soarin' and I too got freaked and closed my eyes for most of the ride. It is not the seating per se, but the feeling of height that you get from the ride...it is called Soarin' after all :rotfl2: I got freaked out from the huge screen and movie not the seating...I was in the bottom row too.

They do have seat belts but there are parts of the ride that you feel you might slip off. I held onto the side bars the entire "trip" but my DH was not holding on and the one part that it feels like you're dipping forward...he quickly grabbed the bars, hehe!

My husband would not go on soarin' because he's afraid of heights. I don't think it's a height issue, but a motion sickness issue. IMO
I loved the ride and couldn't tell how far off the ground we were, but by the 2nd time riding it, I was feeling sick.

I have no fear of heights but am not sure what you meant by no bar! How exactly does this ride work ? Do you move along or just up so far and sit there?

That second one, there.

Sitting in a comfortable theater seat (with a seat-belt), that happens to be several feet off the ground.

Ain't exactly a traditional "thrill-ride", but its a very GOOD ride, just the same.

I did hold my friend's hand for the first few minutes, then she smiled and we knew it was going to be alright. I also have reminded people sitting next to me that you can hold on to the handles.

When the person watches the pre show let them decide. I hope it's OK, I too, think it's too good to pass by without a try :) .
