Does anyone have any info about the timeframe for Soarin' to open this spring? We are heading down there in May and I was wondering if I may catch it.

According to the press release about the Happiest Place on Earth Celebration, it should be open no later than May 5th....

I thought it was slated as a first quater opening, wasn't it?

It'll be open for your May trip, without a doubt. The entire Land pavilion is currently closed while it is being completely rehabbed to help with crowd flow since Soarin's entrance will be inside the pavilion. Currently, The Land is slated to reopen April 1st. Soarin' alone is apparently very close to being finished (if not already), so I would expect that once the pavilion opens it will be shortly thereafter, if not right away, that soft openings for Soarin' will start. Either way, the official date released by Disney is May 5, 2005.

I was wondering if they are going to do anything with the outside of the Soarin' building, which is so very evident behind Canada when you look across the water.

Are they going to plant more trees on the Canadian Rockies or paint the building to look like the Canadian Rockies? Right now, it kind of ruins the "look" of Canada.

Is it going to be Soarin' Over California, or Soarin' Over Epcot? I've heard both.

The attraction willl simply be called "Soarin". It will use the same film as its California counterpart.

Last we saw, they had painted the Soarin' building a sky blue color... I guess it was supposed to make it blend in with the sky... instead it looks like a big blue building behind Canada...

.

From the front of Canada, The Soarin' building is virtually invisible. Last time I was there, you could not even see it unless you went way up & way to the back of the Canada Pavilion.

What is Soarin'?
I'm reading bits and pieces, but I can't put the whole picture together.
I've read that it's going to be in the Land Pavillion and that they painted it blue......

Can you tell me what is expected when it opens?(details?)

Thanks!

Soarin is a simulator ride, but not like any simulator you have ridden before. You are seated in a suspended row of seats. This is what they look like:

When the show starts, the seats are lifted up and forward out over a huge inverted Omnimax screen (a movie screen shaped like a bowl which fills your entire field of vision). The seats are then tilted slightly down towards the screen as the movie starts. The effect is that you are flying, looking down from a hang glider as you fly over very scenic areas of Califonia. The illusion is VERY convincing, escpecially in the center of the front row.

Oh, that looks sooooooooo coooolllllll!!!!!!
When I'm on the Big Swings ride, I close my eyes and let go of the chair and spread my arms, like I'm SuperGirl. It is an awesome feeling. This time, (Hopefully with a soft opening) I'll be able to keep my eyes open and not have to rely on my imagination!
Thanks!
