Can someone explain Soarin' to me? Everything I read has conflicting information. One version said you are lifted in the air about 45 feet up - that's like 4 stories, but when I look at the building it doesn't look that tall. So, how far up are you lifted?

Here is some helpful information:

I can tell you that I am not big on heights and this ride has never bothered me. Also, dh's cousin is deathly afraid of heights has motion sickness issues and won't ride Dumbo but enjoyed Soarin. The fact that very small kids can ride as well as pregnant women gives you an idea that its not very intense. Its an incredible experience!

I am not sure how far up you are lifted. The three rows are lifted to varying heights. The top one is the best view but the highest as well!

It's hard to judge the lift height since it's dark directly below your feet then being surrounded by the view. It's a fantastic ride that doesn't last nearly long enough for me. I could keep on flying!

Thanks! I'm trying to convince DS12 to go on it with us. He's my cautious one. DD5 on the other hand is ready to go on everything. ;)

Sitting in the front row does take you up fairly high, I'd say between 40-45 feet; the second row about 30-35 feet; and the third row about 20-25 feet.

Part of the building is actually underground which you'll notice as you walk downhill while waiting in line inside the building. That's why the building doesn't look that tall from the outside.:thumbsup2

If your son is nervous, try out the third row. It's a wonderful ride no matter which row you're in!:)

Our whole family loves Soarin'! From the littlest at 5 to the oldest at 69, we went on it at least 5 times while we were there the last time. Have your DS look at our picture and let him know that every single one of us went on the ride. I don't like heights at all, :scared1: I usually get a really weird sensation when it comes to heights, but with this ride, I don't have a problem. Do your best in trying to convince him. You just sit in a seat, completely strapped in and enjoy the smooth ride.

When DD was almost 5, she was very nervous of this ride. I just explained to her that it is just like sitting on our couch watching a movie. I know that it kinda spoiled the "magic" of the ride, but she needed to understand how it worked so she would not be so scared.

DD(4 at the time) was also nervous about the ride. We described it as sitting on a swing going forward. The lift in the beginning feels just like the forward movement when someone pushes you on a swing. She was fine during the ride and absolutely loved it! Her favorite scene was the last one (won't tell you and spoil it), but now she hates that part because she knows the ride is over :rotfl:

it's not scary at all. You just sit there and watch a movie. I mean it's more than that but you really are not that aware of being up high

Does anyone know if my 3 year old can get on this ride? Or is there a height restriction? :confused3 I've always wanted to go on this one, but never have. Im not too sure why. :rolleyes1 lol Thanks!

Veronica

Height requirement is 40 inches.

Last year my three year old rode it and loved it! He put his arms out in front of him and pretended he was superman.:goodvibes

I can't imagine you're lifted very high at all. I rode it twice this last week - in the front row both times. I don't like coasters etc. and I loved this attraction. It seemed to me they just raised us a few feet to get us above the railing in front of the screen. It really didn't feel like much more of a lift that that.

I only rode in the front - so maybe those in back can see the front rows lifting up?

I am petrified of heights so the first time I road it in DW I kept my eyes closed most of the time. the second time opened them alittle more. Last year in DL I rode it twice bboth time with my eyes wide open. I have always been sitting in the front row so I have no clue as to what the other rows feel like. :thumbsup2

Soarin' is one of my absolute favorite rides. I'm very scared of heights...well not really of the height part but the falling part. LOL We go on Soarin' multiple times when we visit....it really is amazing. I've been in all rows and while you are higher in the first one it doesn't really seem like it. Our whole family loves this ride and we have since we rode it last year.

You don't really realize how high you are actually going. Its all about the screen in front of you and where it is taking you. They whip a little wind through your hair, add in some scents to give you a more authentic experience. Truelly not a ride to be missed. My MIL is deathly scared of heights and we convinced her to go on it. FIL was a small fixed wing pilot back in the day. So we knew he would love this ride. She, like another poster, hung on tight and kept her eyes closed the whole time. Second time around she relaxed a little, and third she was totally immersed in the experience. Let your cautious little flier know that there are seat belts and that you will be next to them the entire way for any handholding support they may need. Everyone will be glad they didn't have to miss ths ride.

Thanks everyone - I think I have enough information to make him feel better about it. I'm very excited, I've been wanting to go on for quite sometime, but have never made it. Last time we went (2005) I finally got him on Star Tours by explaining all the technology/secrets behind it - so I think we'll be okay with this one. Now if I could just find a way to convince him the Splash Mountain and Grizzly River Rapids drops are really small. ;)
