Soarin' Line Cutter's

I want to begin by saying the Epcot Cast Members did a wonderful job of herding all of the quests at opening to Soarin’ in an orderly fashion. However, I was very upset to see the number of people that bypassed my family in the Standby Line.

We were at opening last week and while I went to get fastpasses my DH parked the stroller. I was the third person to get fastpasses and then I stood outside the Standby line entrance waiting for my family while several dozen people got into line. No problem. My family joined me and we got in the Standby line and here is where the trouble started. Two families pushed past me to join someone much further ahead. A third family tried to do it again on my left and as I told the woman “No More” another woman and two kids pushed past my DD's on the right. I was furious. If I had jumped in line as soon as I got my fastpasses we could have easily been one of the first dozen people in line but it is wrong to cut in front of others. Period. There are some things that can be done about this.

• Small signs along the standby line under the trivia questions telling people to please stay in line, if the rest of your party is behind you, wait for them to catch up with you
• As everyone is streaming past the cast members have them loudly announce to “Wait for your entire party before entering the line” (like they did telling people to stay behind the cast members on opening)
• Watch for this behavior and correct it.

We were also there in December and noticed this happening. A Texan couple in front of us stopped two groups from pushing past them, with the gentleman getting quite angry and the pushers complaining loudly. There should be no need for this type of confrontation and it an unpleasant way to start the day. I also watched a group of teenagers leap frog by having them slid up one at a time.

WDW needs to do something or the number of "Front Runner's" will only increase.

I'm sorry, but I don't feel one bit sorry for you. You were at Disney World last week!!! Last week, I was going to visit my teenage son every day in the psychiatric hospital while he was there for severe depression and suicide prevention. I would have let anyone cut the line in front of me all day long, because just being there with him and the rest of my family would have been heaven instead of what we were (and still are) going through.

I don't see anything wrong with families joining someone already in line. Its not a problems or WRONG to me. I guess its subjective. Everyone feels differently about it. As long as Disney has no problem with it then I don't either. I mean really - how much longer did you have to wait - five maybe ten minutes?

Man - I wouldn't think someone put off by line cutting would get even a couple negative responses. It's all about common courtesy and I agree with MaryKatesMom - these people should have waited. Now, if it was an attraction where the # of people in front of you wouldn't affect your wait time (let's say if each party was brought in together whether it be 1 or 10 people) - that's different. But for each person who cut in front of you, that was delaying your entrance into the show.

A huge issue - not really - I mean you are at WDW! But, it does discourage me no matter where I am, when people have a 'me first, me first' attitude and disregard being courteous. And the example that we are showing our children by behaving that way...

I've never had a problem with a bathroom break for small ones or someone running to get a drink. That is life.

I probably wouldn't have noticed one family but we were pretty far up in line to begin with, so four families was a pretty big crowd percentage wise.

I thought WDW had a policy about cutting in line, but maybe I'm wrong. I think it the preshow and ride take about 20 minutes, btw.

Sorry, but I agree with the OP. I have been known to use my body as a human shield. If you want to do this then only ONE person should go get the FPs. If only ONE of you can get in line then you need to use the majority rule.

Of course my favorite of all time was on Spaceship Earth. My friend and I were in line and these two older women were PUSHING thier way up to the front going "Senior Citizens" They got to us and we were standing two abreast and they just SHOVED my friend into the railing. She held her ground and was FURIOUS. She turned around and asked them WHAT they thought they were doing. "We are Senior Citizens, we don't have to wait" My friend asked them if they were planning to die in the next 10 minutes and then told them to WAIT like everyone else. The people around us were laughing out loud. One old lady gave me the finger!!! So then we get to the front and the two witches go to the CM and LOUDLY demand we get thrown out of the park because we made "senior citizens" wait in line..... Another guest yelled at the CM about the finger and we got on the ride and went away. Needless to say Disney security was not waiting to throw us out when we got off.

CarolA... you should have let them go in front of you just as you got to the loading platform. Just as it is you turn to get on, politely allow them past and make up some excuse such as you need to wait for the rest of your group to catch up. And don't forget to show respect for their age... maybe assist them getting on the moving conveyor.

It is one thing when someone will get out of the line to take a child to the bathroom and then have to push through people. However most of the time it is simply people who get in line while others in their party get Fast passes, do something else or just rest on a bench for a while. In that case it is wrong. You should not get in a line for any reason if your entire party is not with you. It just creates problems. If while waiting in line someone needs to leave and come back that OK. But when you get in line with half you party missing you are doing something wrong.

I agree with the OP as well; there's no reason to shove past people - if you want to stay together as a group, get in line as a group. And while it's easy to rationalize that "it only adds a minute to your wait", if Disney keeps allowing this to happen, it will only get worse. Imagine one person from a group of 50 getting in line, then the rest cutting through 15 minutes later ....

To the poster who said it was no big deal and you only have to wait an additional five or ten minutes, why couldn't the member of their party ahead in line do the same? Wouldn't it be better for that one person to wait an additional five minutes instead of making everyone in line behind them add to their wait time? We're not talking a mom or dad with a child who needed an emergency bathroom break -- we've all been in that situation and I'd hope we'd understand it for what it was. Instead, we're talking about the sprinters who grab the line so that the dilly-dalliers can leisurely stroll up and assume front of line priveleges...

What I was trying to say was it's probably a case of misplaced priorities to get so worked up over it that you're still angry enough to post about it a week later. Why let someone else have that much power over you and your emotions? Relax, people....slow down......enjoy life.

I, too, am amazed at the support for bad manners in this thread. How did we get to the point where rudeness and 'me first' are acceptable? We've created catergories in this country where EVERYONE is a special interest group or victim. Why do Senior Citizens get to go first? Should WDW have lines for seniors, religions, vegetarians.....? Yep, it's Disney World, but I've been hearing that excuse for too many things. Just because it's a theme park are we to let common sense and courtesy go out the window? Yes, it's all small stuff, but if behavoir is condoned or ignored it becomes BIG stuff & I don't mean one person, I mean a whole generation. Okay, I'm off my soap box....flame away.

I'm with the OP on this!
It's rude & annoying to others in line. Completely unacceptable behavior. I hate when people think they can send one person on line, then 5 minutes later the rest of the family pushes their way thru. As if that is OK to cut the line.
It is STILL CUTTING THE LINE!
I go crazy when this is done in Wal-Mart & even crazier when this is done in WDW.

I totally disagree....people aren't given respect because of their age..they have to EARN it.....not to mention...the only people who get to move ahead in the line are wheelchair people....which if they were walking, they shouldn't have had special treatment.

People just need to remember common courtesy!

I agree that this isn't a black and white issue. There are some gray areas here. I do not think that one person should be allowed to hold a place in line for a large group of adults or older kids. Having a 2 yr old however, I do know that sometimes it is better for the people around us if my husband stands in line with the other kids and I let her run around on the side. I also think that if I do this, I politely tell the person that I need to catch up with my husband. Of course, there have been many, "I need to go to the bathroom" cries while standing in line. I think the most annoying part for me would have been the shoving past without a word. If someone asks kindly, I'm very apt to say "no problem".

Wow, what else can you add to that? Sounds like your kids are getting an excellent education! Thanks for the sacrifice your family made for our great country so that we can even partake in this discussion.

for a long time I thought it was only me who had a problem with people cutting in front of a line to get a better view etc.
The problem I have is I am not afraid to say anything, but so I really want to get in an argument? No so I thing people know this and take advantage of it.
My husband is not aggresive at all and will let the whole state of Florida in front of him instead of saying anythin.

I got back on Sunday.

I also had a terrific vacation, I don't believe I said otherwise.

The cast members did a great job of getting everyone into the Land pavillion in an orderly fashion, although the thought occurs to me, they had at least 10 CM's walking over to the pavillion. Maybe, just maybe, there were problems earlier that needed to be addressed.

It would never occur to my parents that they "deserved" to go to the front of the line due to their age. I think the point of the post was how rude they were about it. They didn't say, "Excuse me, but would you mind if we on ahead because we are having a hard time of some sort". NO, they were pushing and shoving and extremely rude. Again, I think we all make allowances for people when they politely ask. When anyone is rude or act as if they are owed something, I can see having a problem with that.
