Soarin' Is Spectacular

The scenery changes often, so maybe your attention will be on the film rather than the height. I held on tightly the first time I rode, but the second, I only held moderately.

Can I ask a ? Was it a haul to get to the ride? We want to hit the big 3 of mission space /test track and Soarin. I am assuming we will hit Soarin first thing in the AM and then head over to fast pass test track and ride mission space- it just seems so faaaaaar in the back on the map. Do you have to walk through the Land to get there?

Got in this ride on Saturday - Annual Passholder sneak preview... It is a spectacular ride.

We liked it too but I was wondering if anyone else experienced what we did. The feet of all the people in the row above us came into our view. It seemed like they need to be raised a foot higher or the thing that was suppose to block the view of their feet wasn't long enough. Funny, but they originally had no one going in our row, we got moved there when there was a miscount on our assigned row. Seems like they would not want people seeing a row of feet at the top of all the scenes so it might be something with this row that needs to be fixed. We were in the second row to the far left.

We have Soarin' in california adventure/DL california. It is my favorite ride there! When the ride first opened, at the end of the ride , everyone clapped and hooted so loudly. A totally different pleasant experience. If you ask for the first row you won't see the feet dangling in front of you. Is the film footage the same at Mk as it is here?

You are strapped into a chair. You feel very secure. You raise up a bit into the air as to position you in the center of the rounded screen. It's a little frightening at first if you are afraid of heights but just close your eyes for a minute and then open and enjoy the wonderful ride!

I am deathly afraid of heights but Soarin at DCA has never bothered me. And yes you do see the dangling feet but as the scenery starts you are generally distracted from that. It is a phenomenal ride, I don't think there is anything like it anywhere else!

When we rode it 2 weeks ago (has it been that long already??) we were in the front row so I did not experience the feet but it was very obvious where the top of the screen/movie ended, a few foot strip of black at the top of the picture. It was a little bit visually disconcerting so I was consciously trying to keep my focus lower in the screen. It certinly did not ruin the experience at all -Soarin' was fabulus!

I felt very secure on this ride and I am a bit of a ride 'whimp'. I of course hung on to the hand holds/bars (had to share one side with my 7 year old - on the other side the guy next to me was kind enough to allow me to monopolize it) and I did feel the need to close my eyes a couple of times but I really got into the experience and was able to enjoy it a lot.

Yes, it's the same film footage. There's a rumor that they'll be making a new film to coincide with Epcot's 25th anniversary though. (I can only hope--it seemed people were a bit confused about all the California scenery in a Florida themepark. I'd like to see an America-wide movie myself!)

When they opened it in DCA, I don't remember them requesting people to remove their shoes if they were wearing flip-flops....I guess they've had problems with people losing shoes? I do agree that it takes away from the experience a bit when you see feet overhead---maybe it's just me, but I can't help but feel a bit grossed out seeing bare feet overhead especially!

Having said that....people, the best seats are in row TWO. Not 1, not 3. The CMs told me that they've had a lot of people begging for row 1. To me, the only good row is row two, because otherwise you will see the edges of the screen in rows 1 & 3. JMHO, but if you try it, you'll see what I mean.

Just got back from riding Soarin today. I was in row 2 but still prefer row 1. There was a long line but I lucked out because I was a single rider. They were asking for single riders. A lot of people were asking why I was going down by myself.

Fast pass was working for Soarin but the single rider line wasn't. Everyone clapped when it was over.

I took lots of pictures in the new food court and Epcot Future World flower pictures. I will post them later.

You know, when we went during the CM preview, I don't recall anyone clapping. In fact, it seemed like most of the people weren't terribly excited to be there. It was odd?

Then this past weekend, we were part of the unfortunate group that didn't get to finish out the ride due to something happening with the projector at the 2nd to the last scene before the end of the ride. So, no clapping then either.

I'm looking forward to being able to go on the ride, have it go smoothly, and hear people enjoy it to its fullest.

The best experience is in the first row... the first row goes the hightest.

My second row experience was not a good because of the dangling feet above. It was distracting especially if they were moving them around a lot. I think if they move that overhead contraption down just a little more, it would be better.

Or, maybe next time I'll wear a hat and have the bill of the hat moved down so I don't see feet.
