Soarin' Image Distortion Only at the End of Rows?

Soarin' used to be my favorite ride.
This new version is a huge disappointment.
The first time I rode in one of the end sections and everything was bent over.
Who the heck thought that was a good idea?
The only way to get a decent experience is by sitting in the middle section row 1 but it's really not worth the bother of asking.

What a shame they ruined it.

Ruined it? Guess that's a matter of opinion. The distortion is definitely weird, and we laughed at it. But having been on it (and the old one) many times, I would hardly say they ruined it. I enjoy it quite a bit.

We still really enjoyed it. The first two times we were on the far right and the distortion was pretty bad but it was still fun. Our final ride of the trip we requested B1 and I didn't notice any distortion at all, at least nothing really noticeable. It was wonderful from there. I sort of miss the original one, I loved the smell of orange and feeling like my feet were dragging in the ocean, and maybe most of all ending at Disneyland as that is the park I remember fondly from my childhood, but it was still a great ride.

If you go watch it in DCA it still ends at Disneyland. :)

I hadn't read any threads about the new film before this one because I didn't want to spoil the surprise. This is just so disappointing! Soarin' used to be my favorite attraction in all of WDW. We experienced it at DLR about a week after it first opened on our first ever Disney park trip. It was one of the things that made me fall in love with the parks.

I will see for myself next month but if these reports are any indication it seems that Disney ruined an iconic experience.

Don't jump the gun, you might still like it. We love the new Soarin', and ride it as often as we can -- we're passholders now and go often. I just saw it yesterday and found it as thrilling as ever. (The smells!) Everyone on the ride with us (most were clearly seeing it for the first time) burst into applause at the end.

Yes, there's some distortion to the Eiffel Tower if you're sitting on the end. It's kind of weird! That part was a little odd. But I didn't notice it anywhere else in the video, not once in all the times I've gone on it. I'm not saying there aren't distortions if you're looking for them, apparently, but I wasn't and didn't see them. (As Robo mentioned, that photo was taken with a fisheye lens and imho doesn't look at all like what the ride does from the center, no offense meant. The photo itself is distorted.) While certainly computer-savvy, I confess I'm no CGI expert, but I know that I enjoyed Soain' completely.

Some people here clearly didn't like it, and that's okay of course. But don't let that color your anticipation. The old Soarin' was my favorite attractive in all of WDW, too, and now the new one is. Hopefully you'll feel the same. I can't promise you'll like it, but it's not a sure disappointment.

The Eiffel tower, the pyramid and the mountain (Matterhorn?) were all distorted from our vantage point. Other than that we liked the new video.
