I know people say they don't have a motion sickness problem with Soarin, but is there anyone out there that did? I can not do Star Tours, or Body Wars....at all!! Didn't do well with Space Mountain either because of the enclosed area and excessive jostling. It sounds like it would be ok, especially if the ride is short as posters indicate. So my second question is how long is the ride?

I can't imagine anyone getting sick because of this ride. There is almost zero movement and all you would have to do is close your eyes and whatever problem that you are having with the ride would be solved. It is a great ride and one of my favorites.

I have a problem with motion sickness caused by IMAX films in general. My first Soarin' experience left me quesy and it took me about 20 minutes to recover (by comparison Mission Space took me only about 10 minutes longer to recover). I now take Bonine before I Soar and have no problem.

Best of Luck -- Suzanne

I can't do any of the typical simulator rides like Star Tours or Body Wars (or Spiderman at IOA or MIB at Universal) without getting extremely sick, sometimes for hours.

I had absolutely no problem with Soarin.

My father and husband both have pretty severe motion sickness on simulator-type rides. My dad said that he LOVED Soarin', but during some parts of the film, he closed his eyes briefly and that did the trick. To give you an indication, he went on Soarin' twice on this trip and he NEVER touches Star Tours or Body Wars. Dh didn't need to close his eyes at all on Soarin', but needed a couple minutes after the show to get back his equilibrium. Neither my father or husband said that Soarin' made them sick. They felt minor feelings of discomfort, but said it was more than worth it since the show/ride is so fantastic. Have fun!!!

You mentioned getting sick on Star Tours and Body Wars. Both of those rides are very bumpy and jerky. This is totally the opposite of Soarin'. Soarin' is very smooth and relaxed. My DW gets motion sickness in the car while we are driving down the road and she had NO problem on Soarin' either time we rode it. You should be just fine.

I like other posters had a minor problem and closed my eyes. One tip also used (tht I picked up on the boards years ago) is to carry packages of alchol swabs. When the least bit of motion sickness comes on, rip it open and take a few deep breaths. The queasiness goes away immediately (I almost always need this on Test Track).

I was nervous about Soarin' but I wouldn't want to miss it!

That is so interesting I have never heard of the alcohol wipes. Thanks for sharing that tip! I get motion sickness also, and had no trouble on soarin. I closed my eyes once or twice. I even rode it twice in a row.

I get motion sickness on alot of rides---but had no problem on Soarin' :earsgirl:

Hi,

I am someone who can do Star Tours and have not done Body Wars in years due to not feeling well after riding it. I did not get physically ill I just did not feel quite right for the rest of that day. I am fine on Space but now with age my back aches so I do not ride it on every trip. I do ToT and RnRC with no issues and I have done Mission Space twice and will not ride it ever again. All of this being said I have done Soarin' and loved it. It was outstanding. No feeling of sickness or being "off" a great ride.

i also get motion sickness, and on Soarin I had to remind my mind that we were NOT moving!! In other words, as long as I looked down the row at my family, or if I looked to the side where the screen ends, and you can see the CM working things, it really helped!!

Thanks for the alcohol wipe tip!!

DD8 as well as my parents and DH LOVED this ride, do FP get there early!!

oh, and after the 3rd time on the ride I finally saw the "hidden Mickey" it is on the golf ball that comes at you!!
