Anyone scared of heights just get over it and go anyway? Was it really that bad? My DH is scared of heights and I wonder if it will be too much for him.

I finally convinced him a few years ago to take a hot air balloon ride for the balloon crew I volunteered for at the time. He was totally scared to do it but I'm proud of him, he did.

And guess what... he LOVED IT. But he's still scared of heights. Any comparison between this and anyone who's been on a balloon ride? Or like one of those big swing rides at the fair? Is it akin to that or something totally different? Please help me convince him he won't die.... LOL.

If he's scared to where he'll panic or something, don't ride. But if he's uneasy or just a bit nervous, he'll be fine. Ask for Row 3 somewhere and seeing everyone's feet will give him the sense that he's lower than someone.

You don't really notice how high up you are. If you are in the third row, you are only 10 feet off the ground. As for the movie, while we felt like we were gliding, we didn't really get the impression that we were high up in the air.

My daughter is very scared of heights and this is her favorite ride...
do not look down, it is dark anyway, the ride is very very good it would be a shame to miss it...,

When you get to epcot RUN dont walk to the land and get a fast pass, the lines are usually very very long.... when we were there two weeks ago at 1:00 the fast pass was for 8:00 that night and by 2:30,,, no more fast passes allowed... without a fast pass the shortest line is about 50 min. that we saw...

THIS IS A MUST DO RIDE

I'm afraid to even climb a ladder, but LOVED Soarin'. The sights, sesations and even smells occupy your mind so that don't even think about being scared. I intend to ride as often as possible next trip.

I am very scared of heights but I love Soarin!

I don't like heights and really enjoyed this ride. I think it has to do with being strapped in a seat, knowing it's a movie screen and you are only 10 feet or so off the ground helps mentally.

Tell him he must try it! It is an amazing ride.

My mother. She is terrified of heights. She has problems taking an escalator up to the second story. Even small heights bother her. She rode Soarin' and LOVED it. She went back on 3 more times. Honostly, you don't notice you are that high in the air. I was in the middle row and completely forgot that their was a whole nother row below me. It is a smooth transition and the video so amazing you don't notice anything else. When you are boarding, if he is still worried, request the lowest row. Enjoy!

I am terrified of heights, but I would ride it a hundred times and would not bother me! Close you eyes while your moving up, then open and the scenery will just take your breath away! Enjoy! :thumbsup2

I'm afraid of heights and we were in the first row and lucky me got the very first seat on the far end. So as we were being lifted I noticed the person who was operating the ride and got to see just how up I was. :faint: So I was nervous and uptight the entire ride but my 4yo and 9 yo LOVED it.

This year if we get the far end I'm going to stick one of the kids on the end. :teeth: Apparently they can handle it better than me.

anyone done this who gets motion sickness?? My mom about barfed at the IMAX but it was pretty intense!

Anyone ever notice the Hidden Mickey on the golf ball?
Well, if too many people notice it, it wouldn't be hidden any more, would it? :teeth: Speaking of 'hidden' - anybody notice the GOLFER who hits that ball at our heads? :)

Nothing to worry about. I don't like to be above about the 4th floor in a hotel and feel queasy in Star Tours if I eat breakfast first. Soaring was great! I didn't eat breakfast first as a precaution the first time, but didn't have any issues with the height or the motion. We went more than once...

I get motion sickeness on any movie motion ride. I lose my equlibrium, and am quezy for days. I went on Soar'n in Calif, and had indigestion for days. So decided to do Soar'n at Epcot I would try Dramamine. Well I didn't get queazy, but I also still closed my eyes in parts where the glider appear to be turning on screen. Only problem is I found Dramamine makes me very, very sleepy. I had to leave after and go take a 3 hr nap :rotfl2:

I am petrified of heights - but definately loved my Soarin experience last July

I believe there is a place that you can stand and watch the film as others are riding it. My mom hates heights and hated Soarin'. I felt bad because I didn't think it would be an issue, but she had her eyes closed most of the time. I wish I would have known that she could have stood and watched it.
