We were at the passholder preview of Soarin' last weekend. Very cool ride with one caveat: Watch out for your flip flops! This ride is not rough by any means but it does swoop and "dive" just a bit. My flips felt very unsecure and I couldn't concentrate on enjoying the trip because I was too busy trying to keep the darn things on. I could just imagine how fun it would be for everyone to watch my ratty old shoe skitter across the majestic snow covered scenery!

The next time we rode I did hear the CM at the section next to us giving his group a flip flop warning.

They mention about taking off flip flops when you get on the ride. I wore mine once without any problems but the next time took them off when they made the announcement.

Can you leave them on the floor before you board the ride. I thought I remember someone saying that.

Our CM said to just take them off right in front of your seat because you will end up back in the same spot...Awesome ride!

I took mine off and put them in the mesh basket underneath the seat. The ride isn't rough at all but I felt like I could relax and enjoy the ride much more not having to worry about my shoes flying off.

I have left my slides on the floor 100+ times with no issues in DL. You land at the same spot, and your shoes will be waiting for you.

A few times last week the CM said to put them in the basket, and when I left mine on the floor they didn't seem too happy. Don't know why!

Hey, Jennifer, maybe we were on Soarin' at the same time? We went Friday morning, twice in a row during the AP previews - I heard the flip-flop warning as well.
And wasn't Soarin' just too cool? After we went on, I turned to my DH & DD & said "Finally, a new Disney ride that I can go on more than once."

agnes!

We rode on Saturday morning. Is the flip flop warning a part of the little film on how to put on your seatbelts? If it is I must have missed that. (No big surprise there. We had just ridden Mission Space and I was probably a tad loopy.) On Saturday our CM didn't give us any info. except about the seatbelts. We had two older couples in our section who had a lot of trouble with the belts. I did hear the CM next to us warning riders (Monday, on our second go) and I saw several pairs of flips on the floor in front of the ride. I wore sneaks on Monday. Didn't want to take any chances.

No, I've never heard a warning at DL and it's not part of the film. On Friday am the CM's were telling ppl, never heard it Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. And as I said, I've never heard it at DL either.

I just started doing this as I always wear slides and didn't want to lose my shoes!!! I'm not worried about leaving them on the floor, because nobody could really take them anyways.

We were there April 4-9. CM came through the line and told me to put my shoes in the basket under the seat. I put my purse there too so I could enjoy the ride. It's an awesome ride! The CM said they were expecting two hour waits when the ride opened. Glad we got to do it when we were there - no wait!

Are these seatbelts big enough for us fluffy people?! LOL! Like I can just barely get the seatbelts on an airplane buckled, I don't want to get on there and have it not fit. I have been on pretty much everything else there and haven't had a problem at all.

Everyone on our row was fluffy and we all fit just fine! Some of the elderly (looked to be mid-70's) riders were having trouble reaching across to buckle their belts. It was more of a mobility thing than a size issue. If you can ride the other rides I wouldn't worry about it.

Is this new ride something you could take the little ones on? I'm taking my then 28 month old to DW in August.

I was there on Friday morning and the CM told us to put flip flops and sandals that might fall off in the basket under your seat.

aaronlisar- I believe that you have to be 40 inches tall to ride.

I've only been on Soarin' at Disneyland. But I always put my flip flops in the basket underneath me just in case.

I've done Soarin' several times at DL as well and the CM's always reminded people to use the basket underneath.

I also saw a hat taking the big dive this week. I can't imagine it was from the wind - proably someone was holding it and it slipped out of their hand.
