soarin erector set

Probably lots of people have heard that an erector set was used when the imagineer had solved the problem at home at Thanksgiving. But did anyone ever try to duplicate his design? Are there blueprints online? I'm young enough to grow up with legos and not an erector set, but I might track one down and build this if I had the plans.

Don't know about blueprints (a google search, maybe??), but I have two boys and you can still get erector sets at Target and ToysRUs. Happy building!

the mock-up erector set is shown on a few of the behind the scenes shows/dvds....im sure if you freeze-framed it you could get a good look/copy it fairly easily

That would be a neat souvenir!! I would so buy that. A little kit with the instructions. I love to put things like that together (HUGE Lego fan!!). They have the castle and some of the rides that are made from Lego-type bricks. My ds has the castle and I think I'll be getting him some of the other sets while we are there in July. I love to put them together more than he does. He just likes the finished project.

I saw that on one of the travel channel "behind the scenes" episodes. He was talking about the design with some of the other engineers and they were telling him it couldn't be done the way he was describing it. So he went home over thanksgiving and built it to show them. On the episode he works the model back and forth a few times. I'm sure if you wanted to, you could look at it and copy it. It was very simplistic overall, just a rough design to show the arm movement.

I just opened the box, and I don't have nearly enough pieces. Maybe another day...
